“A resort - not for business”
A good place to stay for fun, nice place, quite, small golf course and good place. It is far away takes 30 min to go to the airport and is expensive. Room is big compared to most london hotels but does not have modern facilities. No internet in the room, internet connection over all is bad and expensive. Room is clean but carpet and layout is old and dull. It says its a four start hotel, but really it is like 3 starts. No good food either.
“Excellent value for money”
Service standards of the hotel are well above expectation. Quality of the hotel especially the setting of the hotel is excellent. The manager of the hotel made himself known to us to provide extra professional care. The Copthorne Effingham is a hotel we shall be going back to again and again. Travel from hotel to airport gives an excellant alternative rather than using a taxi and is more reasonable.
“Ed”
It was so bad that I decided to leave the day before my last day and stay in a different hotel. The staff is so rude, never meet people so bad specially the guy in the front desk. Big scam!!!
“Won't go back”
This hotel has issues; it's not a 4 star hotel. The facilities are old and tired. The food is way over priced, breakfast was close to 5 times what it should have been. They charge per 1/2 hour for internet, and it's only per 1/2 hour, you can't break it up, and the desk staff mislead and misdirected us on several things, although they were very nice . The positives were, it is very convenient to the airports and a couple of train stations to London, don't let the desk staff fool you into using their shuttle if you have a car, East Grin stead and one other are very close.
“Expected better.”
The hotel was further than expected from London, and the shuttle bus to and from the train station was NOT complimentary. Also, the latest bus for pick-up was at 9:50, not a good time for Friday or Saturday nights. The hallway on our floor had what appeared to be large, unmovable planters - but were left unplanted. They were filled with gray pebbles, and resembled huge litter boxes for extremely large cats. Very unsightly and unwelcoming. Silk plants would be a wise investment!! And why only one outlet in the bathroom - and limit it exclusively for a man's electric shaver? We ladies have electric things to use, too!! That said, it looks like a great place for weddings, the pool area was quite nice, staff bright and helpful, restaurant nice and beautiful lobby.
“Enjoyed our one night stay”
We stayed here on our way back from a lengthy trip and were to fly out of Gatwick the next day. We found the hotel to be lovely with a pleasant helpful staff. It was a hot June day and there was no air conditioning (stiffling hot) in the bar or restaurant so we did not eat there. The closest restaurant was a bit of a walk but not too bad. A fan in the room was a welcome addition.
“Okay if you are not looking to use hot tub, steam room etc,”
All in all a nice place to stay but we were a little disapointed that we could not use all of the leisure facilities.
