“Home away from home!”

My parents and I stayed at Bern for a few days during our visit to Tallinn and we have never been in a more welcoming and professional hotel before. The staff was very welcoming from the moment we walked through the door. All of the staff speak English but with us some even spoke Russian, which is our native language. The lady at the front desk who signed us in gave us some suggestions regarding places to see and dining spots and offered any further assistance we might require. The room was clean and neat, the bathroom spotless. Also, the breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of choice. One of our visiting days fell on my birthday and it was a huge surprise to receive a card and complimentary Champagne from the staff which was brought to our room! This kind gesture made the day all the more special. Overall, the staff is professional, welcoming and kind. The hotel is clean and sufficiently big. And the location is excellent, with the central Town square only 5 minutes' walk from the hotel. GREAT hotel! Definitely worth visiting Tallinn again.

Getting around
The best way of getting around the city is by foot! The streets are narrow and walking them is an adventure by itself; you see more of the city that way.
What to pack
An umbrella! The Baltic is very well known for random and brief rain throughout the day. It could be sunny one minute and raining the next, so take an umbrella with you when you go out. Fortunately, there are many cozy coffee and tea houses along the streets where you can wait out the rain and in the mean time drink a cup of tea with a delicious pastry.
Dining
Olde Hansa is a great restaurant right by the central Town hall square. It's Medieval Age theme is so wonderful and precise, the costumes of the servers are excellent, the furniture is brilliant, and the food is delicious. Also, you get a dinner and a show, there's a group of people who come out to the balcony overlooking the dining area and play flutes, fiddles and drums. It was like time-travel. Also, you must visit the tea houses located all along the streets of the city. The ones outside of the central Town square are the best because they are quiet, small and offer delicious dessert and tea or coffee. DO NOT order dessert at a restaurant! Go out, take a little walk through the city and stop by any tea house.

“budget hotel in the Old Tallinn”

It's a basic hotel but it has everything for a budget traveler. The room is a bit sparse but clean. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was nice. I was leaving very early on the last day and got a little bag to go (a couple of sandwiches, an apple and a hot drink). Staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located at the edge of the Old Town.

“Excellent hotel for the money, great location”

The exterior is attractive and modern for a nice small European hotel. The lobby is very nice. THE STAFF ARE GREAT. A particular THANK YOU to Sven Liiv who helped us multiple times and is very friendly and knowledgeable. All the staff were terrific. The elevator is the best I have ever seen in a small hotel. The breakfast is fine, better then most small hotels. The room is standard size for a EU hotel, fairly basic but very functional. The shower room design works remarkably well and the bathroom air venting is fantastic. This is the only bathroom of that design I have ever seen that work well and is not a issue at all. THE AIR CONDITIONING saved our trip, we were there in July and it actually works (rare for EU hotels) The only complaint would be the coffee is not to our taste, however the McDonald's that is five minutes away solved that. The location could not be better - we would NOT want to be inside the city wall - to busy and crowded during the day. The grocery store across the street is fantastic, everything you need at reasonable prices. The one improvement I would suggest for the hotel would be get rid of the mini bar (does anyone really ever use those??) and leave the fridge for the guest use. Maybe giving a option of mini bar or fridge would suit all. Next Tallinn trip we will definitely stay there again. Tallinn is so much more interesting then Helsinki hands down. Try EstAdventures tours for a very inexpensive and fun day.

Area recommendations
The old town, modern Tallinn is OK but not inspiring
Dining
Try restaurant Ulvi Kook on Puhavaimu, great food reasonable price, they do not pay to advertise in the Tallinn tourist trap rags so they are not well known except for locals..

“Great Location, Great Value, Great Service”

The title sums it up really. Great spot at the edge of old town, near the modern shopping malls in the new town. Rooms were modern and comfortable. Front desk staff was incredibly helpful and offered lots of great recommendations.

“Great value, walk to everything”

Only issue I had with an otherwise perfect hotel was the "Gentlemens Club" in the basement. Its not affilliated with the hotel and has a seperate entrance, but it's a bit off putting when you arrive at the hotel to see a sign for a stripclub. Otherwise, no complaints, hotel was clean, comfortable, and in an otherwise great location.

“Great Place in Tallinn”

It was a great hotel. The receptionist, Airis, went above and beyond to make my stay pleasant and comfortable. She showed me all the good sights and where I should go. The bed was phenomenal, and the breakfast good also. I really like this hotel.

“Friendly, efficient and comfortable”

This was our 2nd trip to Tallinn in 12 months. On the basis of the high Expedia recommendations we subjected this hotel to close scrutiny. The welcome, and indeed all contact with any staff was extremely warm. No unusual request was any trouble. Everything worked, the rooms were spotless, sufficiently roomy and comfortable with the bonus of gowns.. There was a lift and the breakfast was good. The location was handy to all points of interest in the old city. Offsetting this was the location just outside the old city walls in an average street. There was the compensation of a comprehensive supermarket opposite. The room decor was pleasant but nothing more. I was unable to find extra pillows (although I am sure they would have been provided if I requested). The tariff was very reasonable. This hotel fully deserves the high standing attributed to it by Expedia reviewers.

“Good for business and pleasure!”

The business conference we attended recommended a different selection of hotels. Expedia recommended Bern. We are happy that we followed their recommendation. We saved about 50% of our budget and got all of the fun and quality we needed. Just great and great advice as well.

“Nice hotel in city center”

Nice hotel in city center. It's not a 4* hotel from my point of view but it's good anyway

Dining
There's a good restaurant in medieval style in the city center - Olde hansa
