“Good Place!”
Nice staff! All contacts with the staff were pleasant. Several went out of their way to help find things and places in and around London. The room was always clean. Complaints: there was only a closet for hanging clothes. No drawers in which to put folded clothes and there was no public transportation other than the shuttle to Gatwick Airport nearby. Otherwise, we had a great stay.
“Need to comment !”
Reading many reviews as I waited for room( I arrived hours ahead of check in time) I was bemused by how negative they were. It is not a big city 5 star-- that is very true.It is old and run down( with a lot of maitainence being currently done). It is fairly priced, very convenient to Gatwick with a great bus service that runs frequently. It has a great stay.park car while away and collect on return system in place. It is old,it is a bit run down( see earlier comment about work going on as i write) generally tired--- but you get what you pay for and it is ok for that purpose. The staff are couteous, helpfull, competent without the attitude of some places that in reality have no more to offer. The meals are fine and in context with what the hotel sets out to achieve. For me--it has a nice ,friendly feel to it and I would recommend it without hesitation and will stay there again. Sure--read all the negative comments-- mostly quite unfair in my opinion.
“Not as it appears...”
If you look at the pictures and descriptions, you see a nice white historic building with up to date clean room, near the airport. There are several things wrong with this impression. The building itself is in a state of disrepair, and is very unaesthetic, though there is some construction work ongoing. On the subject of the construction work, there's bits of junk everywhere (I actually had an oversized carpet staple get lodged in my shoe- good thing I wasn't barefoot!), no working lifts, a lot of traffic from the construction workers, and the normal noise associated. There is also quite a bit of noise from plane traffic. On the subject of planes, the hotel *appears* to be close to the airport, but is actually around 4 miles away, around a 16 pound cab ride. There is a bus running, but its schedule is irregular and the posted schedule is inaccurate. Expect up to a two hour delay if you opt for the bus. The bus is free to the hotel, but charges from the hotel to the airport. I also had a few other more personal complaints. One morning, the hotel staff attempted to enter my room without knocking, unlocking the door. I was changing, and leaned on the door to keep it closed while I yelled. I complained at reception, but the response was very skeptical and not particularly apologetic. I had a few other complainra, but am out of room to write. In conclusion, I do not recommend it at this time, though it may be worth it after the renovations are complete.
“Old British fashion hotel”
Very good for travelers who is looking for a hotel near Gatwick airport. Has good transfers from the airport ,operating 24/7. Good price. The only problem- doesn't have internet access.
“It was a nice experiance. I was very tired and I received all that I need to rest. Thanks.”
This was my first experiance in England. The hotels are very diferent from USA and from the Caribbean. But The hotel was very cleaned and confortable. Those are the things that I was needed in those moments to rest well. Also the price was excellent. The service for the price was the most. Thanks very much.I will use this hotel again when I return to England in another time. My congratulations Mrs. N. Rosario ( USA)
