“Paradise”
I stayed at The Casa Colonial Beach and Spa for a long weekend and cannot be more complimentary about my stay. From the complimentary upgrade and champagne on arrival, to the in-room dining this hotel did not disappoint from start to finish. The lobby is exceptionally beautiful with marble pillars and calm ambiance. The check-in was smooth and speedy and the staff especially helpful and polite. The room itself was gorgeous, with a huge tub and big four poster bed. We dined at all of the food outlets and the food was served to a very high standard - some of the food did taste a little salty however this is commonplace in the Caribbean. The room service was fantastic - with the food trolley actually transforming into a table in the room. It was like having your own restaurant setup in the room. The pool and jacuzzi area was my favorite, very relaxing and private, with beautiful views. Especially as we visited out of season we basically had these facilities to ourselves. The beach itself was not as beautiful as other parts of the Caribbean (not white sand) though it was exceptionally soft and the ocean not as blue, but again, still beautiful. The properties landscaping was luscious and green and they have a fabulous area you can enjoy your drinks in the garden. We really enjoyed this space. Overall a fantastic experience that made our stay exactly what we wanted it to be. When I return to Puerta Plata, I will definitely be staying at this property again.
“Best Hotel in Puerto Plata bar none!”
Casa Colonial is by far the best hotel I have stayed at in the Dominican Republic, this includes; Punta Cana, Cabarete, Santo Domingo and Santiago. The room was immaculate and very well appointed. The food was amazing and served with professionalism. This is not a hotel for those looking for "all inclusive" or a party atmosphere. This is a hotel for anyone looking to get away and relax with a loved one.
“Great hotel”
Excellent hotel, very charming and beautiful, great for couples, the service was great and the rooms were top of the line.
“The best place to stay in the area”
I stayed at the hotel for 3 nights in late March and came away with a high regard for the excellent standards and helpful friendly staff. I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a small, specialised, high quality location with excellent dining. I should say that there were few children at the Casa Colonial when I was there which I thought was a bonus! No disturbing of the peace and tranquility.
“A true gem of the carribean!!!”
A total 10. Classic from hotel to service. Spent 6 nights of total pleasure. A must for all visitors of the Puerto Plata area. My wife and I plan on returning annually. Viva Casa Colonial.
“Not for Spring Breakers.”
If you want a place to go and do nothing but relax then this is the place for you. The staff is excellent and not at all pushing. The hotel itself is beautiful and designed/styled in a way that makes you want to just lay back. The rooftop pool is a nice touch and gives a wonderful view of the ocean. The food is very good but not a homerun and I would have liked for some more local dishes. the beach does get a little crowded but once you spend time at the pool you wont want to be on the beach anymore. I would go again
“Just what the doctor ordered!!!”
If you are looking for a beautiful place for quiet and relaxation with excellent service, this is the place. The lush tropical scenery, the sounds and scents, the food and the ambience are second to none. The rooftop pool and jacuzzis are great and so is the spa. The impeccable rooms are not only spacious and comfortable, but very private. We went on our honeymoon and we could not have expected better. It's a relaxing retreat! We have told all our friends and we can't wait to go back!
“Casa Colonial”
What an amazing retreat! Casa Colonial really stands out on this island as a top property with excellent stes, service and amenities. It is very secluded, relaxing and the food is phenomenal.
“Can't wait to go back”
This hotel has the best service I ever experience. Everything is beautiful and the food is great and most important 24 hour room service.
“Jaded New Yorkers”
Hemmed in by nasty all inclusive monstrosities, the Casa is an oasis of civility, though food WHICH IS NOT INCLUDED AS THEY TELL YOU REPEATEDLY can really pump up the bill. But ah, the touches! Marble covers every surface, deluxe towels, fixtures, amenities abound. Very original layout, lavish garden. Our room was fantastic. The casual waterfront restaurant for breakfast and lunch was perfect. The upmarket dinner place strained for effect, and didn't deliver on the price. And we couldn't find a great dining alternative in town. Also, the wind on the beach was incessant. But overall, a lovely place, and a great value.
