“Lovely garden and pool”

This resort has recently been upgraded externally and has a wonderful garden and pool area. We had a two bedroom apartment complete with kitchen and laundry facilities. The bathroom was a bit tired and the master bedroom a little small but the living area and balcony were great. The resort is on the main road into town and traffic noise could be intrusive to some. The breakfast is basic but we added our own fruit and muesli. All in all we really enjoyed our stay

“Tropical Port Douglas”

This property with a lovely pool and jacuzzi in a very tropical setting--- more like a time share condo than a hotel. Full kitchen, separate living room and bedroom. Laundry facilities though the washing machine would not work. My complaints were that the TV wouldn't work for us and we had to have someone come up and help us, plus the washing machine wouldn't work and there is no one in the office to assist from about 8:30 pm to 3:30 am. Therefore, the services are more self-catering than a hotel. When staff were available they were very cordial and helpful.

“7 days of peace, home comforts and ADVENTURES!”

We stayed at Port Douglas Sands for a total of 7 nights and it was great. The value for money was fantastic and we enjoy being able to cook our own food. Being able to prepare meals and lunches from the comfort of your own unit was great. Breakfast was provided and was pretty basic but fine. A selection of breads and spreads for toast, as well as a few cereals, juices and tea and coffee. We were on the 2nd floor over looking the pool, tropical plants, palms and it was very peaceful and quiet out on the balcony (even with the main road into Port just on the other side of the resort). If you have a car it's in a great location. Only a 2 minute drive and your in the centre of Port and the same for the marina. Without the car its a 20 minute walk into town, but its pleasant and for a night out there are a few taxis driving around for a lift home at the end of the night if you're not up to the walk. The reception team were fantastic in helping us with anything we needed and we booked all our day activities through them and they even arranged our stay and activities for a night and a day up at Cape Tribulation. They really were great and full of ideas and knowledgeable of hidden gems away from the crowds. If you like to adventure and plan your own days and get some miles under the belt a car is a must. So many things to see, be it a 20 minute drive to Mossman gorge or 2 hrs up to Cape Trib, the Daintree and its lushous rainforest of secluded untouched beaches. We will be back!

“We will return to paradise!”

Friendly staff only too happy to help and advise on restaurants and general things to do, walking distance to cbd, the rooms fully equiped to self cater if you wish. Laundry facilities in the apartment and the pool and bbq area just divine. We will definately stay at Port Douglas Sands again and use expedia, a smooth travelling experience, not one hiccup...

“Fabulous”

Fabulous place, clean spacious apartment with everything you need. Staff were friendly & helpful. It is a little out of town but if you have a car this is no bother and lots of secure parking. Close to the beach and lovely pool area. Would go back.

“Really friendly and relaxing place”

We had a lovely week at the resort. Staff were very helpful and welcoming and the apartment had everything we needed,. We were able to cook fresh fish when we wanted as there was a fully equipped kitchen. We had a ground floor apartment which had a courtyard surrounded by beautiful tropical plants - very private. We needed the sliding door fixed as it wasnt sliding and they fixed it straight away.

“Great pool and grounds and fantastic managers!”

I would recommend staying at Port Douglas Sands. The relatively large pool and grounds are very well maintained and great for relaxing around. Unit was clean and reasonably well furnished, albeit a little small. Fine for two people though. Its location is about 7mins drive away from the main drag and harbour, so if you dont have a car it could be a little far way out. Its quiet though which is great. What really makes this place fantastic are the managers Amanda and Matt. They couldn't have been more helpful. It really makes a difference to a stay to be greeted and assisted with such openness and enthusiasm. Thanks Sue
