“Simple, clean and great value”
Kevyn, the English-speaking manager (10 years in Australia) was the epitomy of service. Nothing was too much trouble, phone access, internet, security access (there are no room safes or telephones). I stayed at the Orient on two separate occasions in different rooms which were simple, clean and functional. Also very good range of TV channels was available. Not near the beach but I didn't come here to fry. The hotel has a very pleasant swimming pool which was great to use because there were not many guests when I was there. Included breakfast was simple but you could order more from a reasonable and comprehensive menu.
“Amazing value for what it is, would definatally stay here again!”
Although this is quite basic it is incredably good value. Rooms are clean and tidy on arrival, and are serviced every day. Each room is equipt with a tv, both a fan and AC, an on suite and mini bar (with plenty of room for your own bits and bobs). Rooms are also very private with plenty of space so you could happily stay for a week or two. We had only planned to stay a night but stayed for 4 instead before moving on. This is not a 5 star hotel so please do not expect one, rather it is a very well maintained guesthouse with a pool and resteraunt/bar. It is also about 10-15 min walk from the beach (go left at the end of the road not right, as it will take you longer) There are plenty of bars and shops around you with 7/11 directly opposite. Although these do not disturb your nights sleep as the rooms are set back from the road.
“Quiet relaxing holiday”
The small hotel size and its location was ideal for me. It ensured I got a good nights sleep each night and virtually gave me access to a private pool of my own. I found the management and all staff extremely helpful and willing to do all they could to ensure my stay was enjoyable. All staff greeted me in a warm and friendly manner which I appreciated. At no time was I subjected to offers of trips / taxis / services by staff which I appreciated. The dining facilities were adequate and access to internet available free of charge. The hotel grounds and gardens were well maintained and this provided a relaxed environment to enjoy. I would stay again at this hotel as I believe it offers excellent value for a quiet stay in Phuket.
“Not ideal for families but me and my son loved it.”
It's a great place. The staff are so helpful, we (me and my son, 11) were there for some 16 nights, never a problem. The rooms are cleaned and tidied (son is 11), the beds are a bit hard, but hey, I like that. Was a bit surprised that when I was checking out I was charged 100Bht cos I had a spot of blood on a sheet (shaving). Wasn't too happy about that but hey ho. Bottom line is, the food is great, the beer is cheap, it's relaxing, the pool is fine. I'd recommend the place. We enjoyed it. Aircon works brilliantly too. If you're travelling in next few months (This is August 2012), the there is a bit of renovation work on some of the bungalows. It didn't bother us at all, but some picky people might complain. Overall, highly recommended. And the Tom Yum Soup is amazing! Thanks guys.
“good value for the price”
The hotel hospitality is great during my stay. During check-in they greeted me at the street when i arrived around 3am in the morning and offered me a wet towelet and mango juice. It was a nice touch. Outside atmosphere is nice. One issue i had with the room i stayed is the sink faucet head was too close to the edge so i could barely get my hands underneath where the water flowed. Air-con worked fine. Bed comfort was satisfying. Overall good value for the price.
