“Versailles”
This os a great hotel. The service was phenomenal and the facilities were outstanding. We had the best breakfast we have ever had in traveling in Europe for 40 years. We will return.
“Great Location, Beautiful Hotel, but....”
This hotel is gorgeous, with great convenient access to Versailles. As another reviewer noted, the breakfast buffet is also recommended. The only issue I would note, is that all Classic Guest Rooms are located in another building that is separate from the main hotel building that largely serves as a conference centre. This other building ("the Pavilion") lacks the character and ambiance of the main hotel building, and although the classic rooms themselves are beautifully furnished and decorated, the building is quite utilitarian and not very . Customers should note that there are no pictures of this other building or the distance from the main hotel on the Expedia (or hotel) website, although there is now a small sentence in the room description ("Located in the Pavilion Building") to identify that the room is located elsewhere -- but frankly, I don't think this fully explains the difference from the hotel pictures that are presented. Customers who are aware of this discrepancy will avoid the disappointment that we experienced when we arrived and learned that we were not in the main building. Otherwise, this htoel is a great place to experience the opulence of Versailles.
“Absolute Perfection”
Absolute perfection. Beginning at the staff making me feel welcome and at home, at all hours. The Palace in Versailles has such a beautiful atmosphere, seamless reception through to the restaurant (Terrace/Veranda?), the fresh country air and grace of the gardens and sunshine, and concierge. This quick trip for my day in Paris was set for perfection from the very beginning. And, yes, I had three or so hours of train rides and luggage problems that meant I arrived after ten at night. But when you're not het up about problems (some people need a good dose of Epsom Salts), and think only of your holiday, you, like me, will be smiling all the way to Paris. I ate at the restaurant, they were open until very late (past 11pm) and it was exquisite. I felt such an honour to be part of the ambience. In the morning, I took tea on the terrace and just adored every minute. Even the butlers were hilarious. Six stars from the happy lady on the train.
“Versailles - Waldorf”
Very nice hotel....the lobby seemed a bit small compared to many hotels but it was very old world that's what it would have been like a long time ago!
“The Trip of a lifetime”
I was traveling to Versailles alone, although I had been to Paris 4 times. I wanted to practice my French. My first day I walked around the city of Versailles window shopping and visiting the delicious farmer's market. Versailles is an easy city to negotiate and the assistance from my hotel was invaluable. Day 2 I walked to the Palace and took the train around the gardens and Grand Trianon and Petite Trianon. I walked through 3 of the Gardens. Day 3 I took the train to see Chartres Cathedral - I took the tour by Malcolm Miller which was wonderful--I had lunch at a local excellent creperie That night I attended a new French Film at one of the local cinemas in Versailles. Day 4 I took the train into Paris to tour the Centre de Pompideau and have dinner at Deux Magot.--it is always a study in civility. Day 5, I went back to Paris to tour the wonderful Musee Nissim de Carmondo--this musuem is fabulous and prepared me to visit the Palace the next day. My final day I toured the Palace, visiting all the exhibits. I had a fabulous late lunch at Potager de Roy, recommended by Patricia Wells, I walked back to the Palace and took a golf cart tour to the Hamet. Great Trip, Fabulous Meals and Hotel, wonderful weather and walking 6 miles daily. I was so glad I chose making Versailles the centerpiece of my trip.
“Best Place in Versailles”
Alot of history there and a few minutes walk to the Palace. Make sure you book withthe "breakfast option", worth the price. There is a real nice restraunt there that is world known, we could not get a reservation. You can walk to town and hit a Bistro for, (Bistro du Buchero) was excellent. We were able to buy tickets close by as well to the three different palaces within walking distance (wear your walking shoes though alot to see). We went in late August and it was not too busy b/c school had started. Overall, if we went back to Versailles I would stay there again (also if your a Hilton point member, you get those as well !)
“I will NEVER stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone!”
This was one of the worse experiences of my life. I was looking forward to staying at this hotel due to the reputation of Hilton and Waldorf hotels...disappointed, frustrated, overall terrible experience.
“Excellent Hotel”
It is an excellent hotel and has great facilities. The people are nice and rooms are clean and well decorated. The only drawback I have is its location - it is a bit far from the nearby train station.
“Great Hotel”
Hotel was everything and more--superb!!!!
“beautiful property but very rude staff”
