“Very Comfortable Stay”
I was a little nervous staying here after reading the reviews but a couple of friends had stayed hear and recommended it. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30 and as expected we figured we couldn't check in. We had asked if it was possible to have a room earlier than check in time. The gentleman had looked and said to check back at 1. We were able to to check in at 12:30 with an upgrade. The room was huge and looked on to the nice quiet court yard. There was wear and tear on the carpeting but that was the only downside. The prices of drinks at the bar were outrageous but did find an carrs, an Irish Pub, a block away. The location is great for sightseeing. There are tourist traps but are easily recognizable. There isn't really much nightlife here but we had planned on spending our nights in the Marais which was only 3 stops on the metro. There wasn't really anything that was inconvenient to get to. I would stay here again.
“Great historic and very french hotel with wonderful service.”
Went to Paris with my grand daughter and daughter in law and needed a room with three beds. Our room was great - one bed on first floor and loft with two beds. Also full bath in loft and a 1/2 bath on the first floor made our stay easier. The hotel is very historic and very french - if you want the holiday inn don't stay here. The location is wonderful for the price and the staff was always polite and helpful - particulaly the young woman serving continental breakfast in the bar and the conceige. Loved our room, the location, and the helpful staff who all gave us great assistance in English. Wonderful hotel and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else on next trip to Paris.
“Semi convenient location but with a lot of shortfalls”
The hotel is located directly in front of the Tuilleries metro stop. Its a nice location, considering the Lourve is right there. The immediate couple of blocks surrounding the hotel is very touristy though, everything closes by 7-9PM, and everything within this vicinity is inflated in price. We stayed for half or our vacation here, and then moved to a hotel in the Invalides area (which had more street markets/local fan fare than here) . We were upgraded to a Junior Suite, which was very large (it was 3 bedrooms put together) . The bathroom was large enough to accommodate a shower + a bath tub. However, the shower stall's drainage had a problem throughout our stay at the hotel. Simply put: stay here if you're assured a view (of the gardens next to the Lourve) and if you like being in such close proximity to the museum and the L'Opera market, but be aware, everything around this part of town is super expensive!
“great location but hotel misrepresents itself, in the middle of renovation”
Despite some disparaging comments in TripAdvisor, I booked this hotel for a trip with my parents. Maybe some rooms look like the ones in the website but definitely not ours. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation. If you decide to go, make sure you get a renovated room and a good deal otherwise I'd recommend going to a different place
“Big dissapointment”
When i check-in aftdr 3pm, yhe room was not ready. Then the room (# 414) was in a very poor condition. The carpet was dirty, there are spots here and there. The surface of the floor underneath the carpet was uneven. The size of the room is so small that it was hard to find space to put our 2 lugages. For the rate that I was charge, it was not worth it. I thought that the hotel location, being near the Louvre, will correspond to the quality of the hotel. But I guess I was wrong!
“A Nightmare in the best located place in Paris..”
I am sincerely disapointed with the Hotel. Despite of the superb location in front of the Tulleries that was my first aproach to make the selection, the rest was a nightmare. I stayed for 5 nights but not consecutive due to some trips. The 1st night we shoul change our room because there was no air condition, the second time, we have to ask again another room because the one that they provide was dirty, no A/C again, the furniture old and in very poor condition. The SPA is in renovation and there´s no advertise above this. The last night at least we have no problem, but the rooms were just average. When we chek out, they try to charge us again all the nights no matter that we paid in advance in Expedia, they try as well to charge us room service and breakfast that we did not consume. In resume. They try to steal our money¡ Staff very arrogant and unprofessional. Please look for other options. The worst experience in my life. Don´t let that the location be your first aproach. Is more convenient to look for some others Hotels nears by. Four Stars? You got to be kidding¡¡ Very bad,,, very bad.. Shame on then....
“horrible staff, room straight out of a horror movie”
At check-in and check-out, the receptionist seemed more interested in speaking with her fellow staff. The room smelled bad with the toilet having a gaping hole in the wall. The room was huge, with an anteroom with a table and then the bedroom which had the shower and bath BUT the toilet was in the first room. The room looked like it was ancient and hadn't been renovated in a while. Stains on the walls and carpets made me scared to touch anything. As for the 'spa'...for some reason, while I was there, nothing was open or available. Or maybe the staff's favorite response is just....NO.
“Perfect city, perfect location, lovely hotel”
Despite being on the busy Rue de Rivoli, the St. James and Albany is an oasis of beauty, quiet, service and calm. Can't beat the location for walking all over the city.
“Great hotel in the center of Paris”
St James and Albany's location could not be better. It is across the street from the Jardin de Tuileries, and the metro station Tuileries, within a short walk from the Louvre. For a tourist, this can't be beat - within 15-min walk radius you have L'Opera, Place de la Concorde, Le Louvre and the Left Bank. Moving around the city is a snap with 3 metro stations within a 5-min walk, incl. Tuileries across the street. The #72 bus stops right at the door, and will take you to the Trocadero all along the Seine. It is clean and well-maintained hotel with a spa and fancy restaurant. Inner court yard offers a great way to dine on a good day. The hotel is spacious enough for business functions as well, including a rarity for Parisian hotels - specious lobby and long hall ways set up for private meetings or relaxing in the leather arm-chairs. I always stay there on my business trips if I need to meet with partners. The rooms are large enough given the age of the building. Recently the hotel completed a renovation project, and updated certain elements of the room decor and conveniences. If you have a room facing outside, you'll get great views of Paris on one side and Parisian rooftops on the other. Inner-yard-facing rooms may not be similarly spectacular, but it never bothered me. My most favorite are the rooms under the roof in the back of the hotel: Exposed wooden bars, round tilting windows, fantastic views. This is a hotel I would recommend to both tourists and business travelers.
“Avoid”
It looks pretty from the outside but it ends there. The staff was only interested in trying to up sell. The hotel is very tired, rooms tiny, very overpriced for what you get.
