“I love Paris”

4 young staff were superb; friendly, helpful and sincere even by France standards tho the rooms are small; while fixtures are all new and excellent there just isn't much room; not even a chair. Beds are new and pillow top mattresses comfortable; showers are leading edge. one issue I have with French hotels; years ago breakfast was included, now 15-17 Euros for a few croissants, jam and coffee when the bistro down the street offers the same for 5-7. Hotel O has a superb Tea house a few steps away with fresh baking and excellent coffee AND freshly squeezed orange juice.

“Traditional rooms good, Cocoons bad.”

Plus points: friendly staff, good location, quiet, clean, average prices for that part of Paris. Bad points: the "O" makeover, for which some interior designer was no doubt paid a small fortune is counterproductive. The rooms were never large (we have been coming for some 20 years) but now hardly accommodate people. The is no room for a chair or table, and the bed is up against the window wall, so anyone sleeping on that side has to crawl over the bed to get to the (not at all private) loo. There are two multi-function light switches with 4 parts each and who knows how many settings. When we observed to the manager that there was no room, he replied that it was the "cocoon" design. We stayed 5 nights and sort of got used to it, but won't be coming back, which is a pity as it was our "Paris base". OK for trendy young folks, hopeless for older, less gymnastic couples.
