“Great Location, Nice hotel good staff great place to stay to see paris”
This hotel was perfect for us & better than holiday inns in the states. The staff were kind and helpful when asked and spoke english well. The hotel was about 1 block from a metro stop so getting around was easy. There were 2 supermarkets near by too so it was easy to get snacks or breakfast to keep in room. It was very quiet at night in the neighborhood and we were able to sleep with the window open for cool fresh air. Room was clean and comfortable we had a king bed and rollaway for our daughter.
“disappointed”
Location, lobby and restaurant get a good grade. Room was awful, dingy, shabby and not chic. They gave us what they call an executive suite but it was very small, on a first floor with a small window facing a wall. Dark, and so uninspiring compared to the online photos. We tried to change rooms but they were booked and the next day the only rooms available, although in somewhat better condition and large windows, were too small to place a bed for our child. We reserved and paid for a room for three and got a small room for 2 with no place to even put the luggage. Very far from 4 star accommodations and service.
“Charming, but not in "Opera"”
The hotel is fine and somewhat accessible. On a small street away from noise and traffic. However, the name is misleading. It is not in the "Opera" area as it claims. Walking to and from the hotel at night can give a sense of insecurity. And if you have children, you might not want to be in this area altogether. Also difficult to find a decent restaurant in the neighborhood within walking distance. I would not go back.
“Quite satisfactory excellent staff.”
The location not so great, but I fouind it convenient close to the METRO[ and many restaurants and supermarkets in the area. The rooms very clean and comfortable. Some times a bit noisy but tolerable. The best of all was the Staff. The price somehow in the expensive side. The elevator leaves a lot to be desired. The staff spoke good English.
“Tough location and getting past tattered chic”
Not sure how they got or who gave them a four star rating but it will long remain a mystery to me. On the up side the rooms are a bit larger than the usual in Paris and the staff was very nice. On the down side, it is on the edge of a neighborhood that is all new immigrants of mixed origins so it is crowded, noisy and shall we say .. messy. The hotel itself is in dire need of rehabilitation but if I were an investor I am not sure the money could be recovered considering where it is and the direction the neighborhood is taking.
“Quick 24 hour stop in Paris!”
We only stopped in Paris for one night to see the end of the Tour de France and check out the Eiffle Tower. The room at the Holiday Inn was a reasonable size, we had plenty of space to store our 3 suitcases. The staff were really helpful - we arrived the day of the finale of the Tour de France and so they recommended places to watch it from and how we could avoid the crowds. The hotel itself is a little bit old and the bathroom is a little bit out dated but still clean and tidy. The neighbourhood is not great, we felt safer walking from the north (e.g. Gare du Nord) than the metro stations like Saint Denis. The streets are not very clean and there are a few odd characters hanging around so keep a hold of your stuff and watch where you step! It only took us 10 minutes to walk to Gare du Nord in the morning for the EuroStar so really convenient for us. I have stayed here once before as well and would stay here again but might think twice if I had expensive stuff or small children because of the neighbourhood. PS be very careful on the metro!!
“Paris Trip June 2010”
We were a little apprehensive about the hotel since I read some of the reviews from other sources that were not very complimentary. We found the hotel and staff very nice and extremely helpful. The hotel has an amazing history from King Louis IV but unfortunately is very close to some bad areas. This is the only reason why I would not reccommend it to others. There was a minor issue with the a/c but it was cool during our stay so we dealt with it. If you are looking for American style accommodations then I don't recommend this hotel even though the three of us stayed in an executive room comfortably. Go to one of the more expensive ones in a better area. The room has a safe, flat screen TV, small refrigerator with items for purchase. There was no view but we spent all day sightseeing anyway. The plus is that there is a main street a short walk away with loads of places to eat for a reasonable price. Paris is expensive so bring some bucks. We took public transportation which is very close and affordable. Make arrangements to travel to and from the airport for a set price, the taxi fare will kill you because traffic is horrendous there. On a side note beware of the beggars around the attractions. They come and ask if you speak english and then hound you to death. They will not leave even when you refuse to give them anything. This spoiled the trip for us more than anything and we decided this was would be our last trip there.
“within easy reach to everywhere you want to go in Paris”
The hotel was not far from the main streets into the heart of Paris. Close to the hop on hop off bus routes which take you all over Paris to the sights. Only problem with the hotel was the noise factor from other rooms eg. television noise.
“Comfortable and well located”
This hotel is well located and not too far from major sites and attractions with access to several metro stations. It is in a quiet street and the surrounding neighbourhood offers plenty in terms of eating. Hotel service was excellent, rooms comfortable and clean. My only criticism was some internal noise but overnight it was not an issue. All round, good value.
“Nice hotel, but...”
All in all this hotel was very comfortable and the staff was very friendly. I loved the fact that it was an old building too. However, we were disappointed that the hotel did not provide 24hr Room Service and a bit inconvenient to order water because when we called the Room Service number, it just rang and no one ever picked up. Also, the tv programming was only included if you paid a daily charge for it.
