"Fabulous hotel, in a central location."
We were amazed at the quality of our room. A two storey affair with a very large bed and very clean. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a choice of meats, pastries, fruits and cereals - a great way to start the day! Unfortunately the restaurant and bar were closed for most of our stay. A word of warning, the hotel is located off an area that can feel intimidating, but we were never hassled. Try not to let that put you off because the location is central (close to Quattro Canti) and the hotel is fabulous.

"Central and close to everything"
We had read reviews, some of which were incredibly negative. I traveled with another person, hotel was easy to find; close to everything; literally a short walk away from the center. Close to transport links and buses to all locations. Reception desk was slightly slow but the staff were all knowledgeable and happy to provide advice. The hotel was just beautiful, yes there were signs of its age; but what can one expect when the hotel has been around since 1895. It was elegant, airy and very grand. Our hotel room was clean and spacious everything had been updated; we were on the fourth floor with a window balcony. The bathroom was lovely. Overall it was always a pleasure to come back to this hotel after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was very good, plenty of choice, fruit, cereal, traditional pastries and cookies of the region and hot breakfast. Great coffee! We loved the waiters..added such character to the grande old hotel. During our stay we were in the company of a well known actress, which added some glamour. My traveling companion did find it annoying that WIFI was only in the lobby. I would highly recommend this hotel to family and friends, and would certainly stay again if I was in the area. Fabulous!

"Lovely hotel in quiet area"
We had an excellent holiday . The hotel staff were extremely pleasant and helpful. We were able to walk into the centre of Palermo easily from the hotel, but staff also gave advice on other places to visit. Their recommendations for restaurants were excellent. Our room was a good size and comfortable with air conditioning . The hotel is clean and welcoming. You have a lovely variety of food at the breakfast buffet.

"Nice hotel in a good location"
It's a great hotel in a safe area, 2 minutes away from shopping street. It takes 30min to get to the train station, but the shuttle bus from the airport stops right in front of the hotel. And a local bus that takes you to the beach stops close by which is quite useful for those who don't drive. For those who like watching tv before going to bed they would be disappointed because tv in the room is really small. Overall - great hotel!

"Central Palermo with helpful staff"
We had a great room with vaulted ceiling. This was ideal for the three of us - our daughter had a roll out bed in the dressing area. One small issue - there was no shower curtain / screen and so the bathroom floor got a good dousing! The staff were most helpful and recommended an excellent place for dinner which we subsequently revisited for lunch.

Grand Hotel Villa Igiea

Salita Belmonte 43, Palermo - Map

"A beautiful and elegant hotel."
The Villa Igiea is a stunning 5 star hotel located on the outskirts of Palermo. If you have deep pockets then staying here is a must, but for those on a budget, think twice as you will be paying for 5 star etiquette and service. The staff are are extremely professional and helpful, assisting you whenever and wherever they can. Rooms are furnished according to the style of the hotel giving the sense of the 1920s, and despite not being completely modern in some respects everything functions well. The rooms and hotel areas are kept immaculately clean with service on hand all day if the need should arise. The gardens are a lovely place to stroll around in the evening with many secluded areas to admire the boats in the marina or the lights of Palermo. The swimming pool is well managed throughout the day with a life guard on hand to organize sun beds and take your orders for refreshments. There is a bar and bistro adjacent to the swimming pool area should you wish to take lunch. Breakfast is a very civilized affair taken on the terrace with the sun rising over Palermo bay and caters for every international taste. Use the hotel's free shuttle bus that will take you in to town and bring you back at various time during the day, taxis are very expensive and you will pay at least 20 Euros for the trip into town. Use the same bus to take you to the private seaside area where you can take a dip in the sea and have lunch, although this is not quite a beach but a platform area above rock
