We decided to stay despite the coronavirus pandemic. Housekeeping discontinued service, understandably, but did bring necessary supplies if needed. Our WiFi didn’t work but they found an adjacent unit for us to piggyback off. The air conditioning was loud when it turned on/off (like a bang, nothing normal). Our unit was 606, which has an amazing ocean view straight out. I was a bit disappointed that the adjacent unit sticks out about six feet further which blocks any view down the beach. It was great listening to the waves crashing on the rocks. We stayed at the adjacent property (Aston Mahanna) two years prior. The condos sit back from the water about 50 yards further. I think I prefer Aston Mahanna because there is palm trees and foliage between the unit and the ocean which gives a more tropical feel Don’t get me wrong, the Maui Kai is a great place to stay and the staff did what they could during challenging circumstances. Also, the lanai was awesome for whale watching, morning breakfasts, and cocktails during sunset!
