Great getaway.
Stayed at this home for a long weekend with three other friends for fishing. All of us over 60 years old. This home was awesome and I would highly recommend it for any group of guys who are theirs to fish Lake of egypt.

Summer 2023
We had a great time! We enjoyed our time fishing, swimming, floating the the lake, and laying on the beach. We even took in a Thrillbillies game. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a low-key get-away. Elaine was available if we needed her and was responsive. House was clean and well equipped with anything you would need in the kitchen. Definitely one to return too!

Family Reunion
What a fabulously comfortable lake side retreat. The home was beautiful and perfect for our group. It was as if Elaine had thought of our needs before we did. Very clean and modern and large enough where we all had enough space to relax and enjoy each other. So fun!

Labor day stay

Easy access to lake with a small beach for play
Elaine always does a great job with this property. This is our second time staying here. She personally sees that everything is provided for her guests. She takes extra care to make sure the house rules are followed to make everyones experiences great vacation. The property is well appointed with everything you might need, especially the kitchen. Extra disposable plates and bags/aluminum foil/ dish soaps were all provided which is great! You will prolly not need any kitchen items besides your food. There was plenty of parking for our 3 vehicles and a short walk down the backyard to the dock and beach. ( rare on the lake!) We had three families stay and enjoyed the perfectly warm lake, we rented a boat from the marina and we easily navigated it to the dock. The property is tucked into a small no wake zone in the middle of the lake. We played at the beach and caught fish with playdo. She provided popcorn s'mores and fire wood which was such a nice touch for the kids. Bring your fishing poles if you have em! Lots of fish are in the lake. Also water shoes if you are weird about them nibbling at your feet or seaweed where it gets deeper. The house is stocked with board games yard games and kayaks. Everything you need for a stay/lakecation. The downstairs is a perfect area to put the kids with its own little bathroom. We just had to put a few decor things up bc we had little ones and didn't want them breaking anything. Bring bug spray because the mosquitos and bugs might think you are tasty. There is a dollar general nearby that also has a small grocery section if you happen to forget anything. We also ate at the mexican restaurant at the marina and enjoyed a night off cooking. Would definitely stay again hopefully next summer. -thx!

Wonderful host
We had a wonderful stay at this property. Our kids had a blast in the sand, the lake, and the kayaks. The beds were comfortable and the home was clean, and very charming. One thing I would make sure families with little children know is that it was hard to tell in the pictures how low the fence was between the yard and the lake; our 2 year old was taller than the lowest part of the fence and was easily able to climb the fence so we didn't feel there was a child safety protection between the house and the water.

Enjoyed everything about our stay. Location was great, beach was wonderful and house was comfortable. Even with the rain we enjoyed a comfortable long weekend. Staying at the property on the beach and in the yard was peaceful and just what we needed.

Lovely stay
We had a great time at this property and loved floating/hanging out at the beach and dock. Everything was very clean and there was so much to do we barely left the house! Our only complaint was that the host was on the property (weeding the beach) for much of the evening when we first checked in. She was very nice and we very much appreciated her weeding the beach but we also would have enjoyed the privacy had it been weeded prior to our arrival. But even with that it was a great experience!! 10/10 would recommend

So sorry about the weeding. It had been done about a week prior, but they came back so fast. I hate being at the property when my guests are there. I never know if it’s best to leave it or make it as it should be. After the house was cleaned, the yard mowed etc. & I checked the firepit, I was shocked to see so many weeds already. I’m really sorry about that.You we’re great guests! Thank you!!

This was our first trip to Lake of Egypt. When we arrived we were greeted by the host. She is very kind and welcoming. The house was very clean and accommodated 4 adults and 3 children very comfortably. Host provided many extras with the house which made the vacation enjoyable. Kayaking was great and the fire pit at night was perfect. We definitely look forward to heading back.

Lovely home - well stocked and clean
This is a really nice, very clean, roomy home. Elaine, the host, is very friendly and has a great eye for detail. There were many thoughtful touches, for example, the fire pit by the lake had already been prepared with firewood and kindling so all we had to do was light it and make s’mores from the s’mores kit. That was our favorite memory. The house is very well stocked, including the kitchen, plus lots of towels and supplies for the lake. Everything you need is already there. I would definitely rent again.

Single step up main level, easy acces for 90+ year old.
The house was well setup for any age. The entry was a single step up and all of the main areas were on the same level. There is a sunken tv room, but we never really needed to watch tv. The wrap aruond deck wa great for sunrise and moonrise viewing. The private sandy beach with a shade-sail and chairs was a big hit. I cant think of anything we needed or would change about the location.

Even Better Than Advertised!
This is a fantastic house on the lake. There's too many positives (and no negatives) to list them all, but a few are: the property manager (answered questions leading up to and during the stay), the location on the lake (whether it be swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking or boating, not all places allow for all as easily/safely), the sand beach (the niece/nephew loved building sand castles), the yard and deck (play catch, play bags, or have a fantatic view while you watch).

A wonderful Place
We booked the house for my daughter's graduation at SIU. The home is very nice, the beds were all comfortable, and the view of the lake is amazing. The whole house is well stocked from towels, paper products, kitchen needs, movies and games. We were able to kayak and fish right off the dock. Due to time constraints we did not get to use the fire pit, but it appeared to be a very nice set up. We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone. The host, Elaine is amazing to work with and went above and beyond our expectations.

Perfect Family Spot on the Lake!
I’m super picky with rentals. I like a well-cared for home that’s super clean (being a bit of a germaphobe). We’ve used a lot of VRBO homes in multiple states over the years and I can definitely say this is one of the nicest and cleanest homes we’ve ever stayed in! The beds were SO comfy and I need to find out what mattress the kings size bed is because it was the first time my back didn’t hurt in the morning! The owner, Elaine, takes pride in her beautiful lake house and it shows in how well kept everything is. It’s also so well stocked and we didn’t need anything! The weather was bitter cold almost everyday we were there so there was a LOT of indoor time but we still had so much fun and played several of the games stocked in the cabinet. The view is also to die for! We also loved the extra touches including s’more ingredients for the firepit- unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate for much outdoor fun but that just means we have to come back!

The home is beautiful and well kept. Hostess thinks of everything! Kitchen is easy to cook in and glassware/dishes/utensils/pots and pans all very nice. Deck is so nice to sit on and admire the lake view. Beds and bedding very comfortable! Would book again!

Sweet stay for extended family
We had a great stay at Elaine’s home. It was perfect for our overflow of family as we live just down the road and had extras in town for a fun weekend. My only feedback would be to consider a contactless check-in so we didn’t have to coordinate our arrival. The place was stocked with plenty of towels and Elaine has thought of everything! My husband and I our 2 adult children, their spouses and our 2 grandchildren stayed for 4 days. Our host was most gracious, the property met all of our needs and then some. We didn’t even get a chance to use all the amenities. Great Lake location as well. Elaine was a very pleasant and gracious host.

Nice Little Getaway
The house was very clean and Elaine was a friendly and attentive host. The kids enjoyed the private beach. You can swim right from the beach, and my husband enjoyed fishing from the end of the dock. All bed linens and towels were provided, which has not been my experience with other places I’ve rented. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay.

Magical getaway
We had the most wonderful time on this vacation. The house was spacious clean and cozy with plenty of towels for showers and going down to the lake. The lakefront was perfect with the sand , kayaks , dock and big floating raft. All of our kids (8 mo - 7 years) had a fantastic time , and there were even sand toys and life jackets for them. The grill and campfire were just icing on the cake . We hope to come back again!

Worth Every Cent!
This was our first experience using VRBO and it was perfect! The house was everything described and more! The owner is very friendly, helpful, and made us feel very comfortable and at home. She thought of everything we could need, right down to popsicles in the freezer for the kids. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. It was great that all linens were supplied including beach towels. Our grandkids loved the sandy beach and swimming area with kayaks, and the yard was perfect for them to play. It's a great fishing lake and our fishermen always came home with a nice catch of the day. We HIGHLY recommend this property! Like the other reviews, we can't wait to go back. We golf for a week somewhere( Hilton Head, Pinehurst, Traverse Bay, etc.) yearly. We stay at a nice location. Normally we dine out, but every evening we sat on the deck and watched the sunset on the lake as we grilled out. Quiet and Perfect.

Wonderful memorial day weekend get away
My family and I (3 boys aged 5,3, and 1) had a great time at Elaine's place. The location on the lake with the beach was great. House was clean and Elaine very helpful. We rented a pontoon boat from Macs marina for a day which was great and did lots of hikes all within an hour of the house.
