“Old style charm at old time prices”

Hotel sited at the city walls of Valletta with busses to any part of the island litterally on the doorstep. Service was excellent. Gardens to swiming pool were worth a good walk. Lifts a little quirky, but you can't diss a hotel for the lifts can you? We just took the stairs a bit more

“Fantastic Hotel, Great Location”

This hotel is conveniently located right next to Valletta's city gates and the main bus station (where the airport bus stops and most other day trips start). Our room had 3 balconies and the air conditioning was quiet and efficient. The hotel's Palm Lounge had a pianist playing on a couple of the evenings we were there, enjoying the 'happy hour' cocktails. There was also a classical guitarist playing when we ate at the hotel's main restaurant. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Top tip - watch the sun setting over the harbour from the hotel's garden / pool area whilst enjoying a Maltese beer!

“delightful gem of character in heart of city of Valletta”

This was a truly enjoyable stay which we have just enjoyed i mid June 06. The hotel, and in particular the Cocktail Bar oozed character of a bygone era! Breakfasts were delicious and we found the concierge was very helpful in assisting with arrangements for our onward travel. The beautiful pool area and gardens deserve particular mention. Watch out for the hotel cat, often to be seen lying resplendently asleep on the front step whilst the world carries on around her!

“Would go back”

The ground floor of the hotel is very colonial and relaxing, but could do with a bit if a face-lift. That did not detract from its charm, or the excellent service. Its very handy for the bus terminal for easy access to the whole island, and is also very close to the main street for restaurants and shops. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful with information on how to get around and on available tours.

“Elegance and Service”

The hotel Phoenicia is just outside the city walls of Valletta and more importantly right next door to thye roundabout of buses that cover the entire Island. The standard of service was warm and friendly from the moment we arrived and notgheing was too much for them.If you take full advantage of the magnificent breakfast you will only need a chese pie (also recommended)for lunch so there is minimal interruption to the days sightseeing. The garden is great for an ecvening walk and the view of the Grand harbour from the pool area is wonderful. There is a conytinuous programme of improvement going on within the hotel but this is almost invisible to the guests and does not affect the quality taht is infused into everything. If we manage to return we would not dream of staying anywhere else on the Island!

“An oasis of calm in the heat & bustle of Valletta”

Not having been back to Malta for around 30 years, we chose this hotel outside the Valletta city gate, for the location, the description of the gardens & the reviews we read about the hotel. (We were not after a beach hotel). We were not disappointed. Everything about the hotel, in particular the friendliness of all the staff in the hotel, made our stay extremely enjoyable. We were made to feel at home from the start (a big thank you to Sebastian)& enjoyed the food & hospitality to the full. Don't miss the breakfast - it is first class. As for dinner in the evening, we ate dinner both in the hotel & at other restaurants in Valletta & enjoyed the variety of choice & the same friendly hospitality everywhere. Malta will not be the cheapest holiday one could take - but it depends what you want. For us, it was perfect & the Phoenicia contributed a great deal towards that. If we go back, we will choose the Spring (late July this year was too hot & we live in the Middle East!) & the Phoenicia.

“Phoenicia”

For those of you who want a good quality, quiet hotel, close to the city of Valletta, and who may not want to be surrounded by the general high energy noise and nightlife of St Julian, then this is the place to be. Great people, close to the bus terminal and very pleasant indeed.

“Our best ever hotel”

Hotel Phoenicia was exceptional, very comfortable, spacious room, clean, quiet, friendly staff, excellent breakfasts, location brilliant being just by Valletta centre and bus terminus a short walk away. We ate at the hotel Pegasus bistro and had food at the swimming pool cafe - both were very good. Also had dinner at The Chef restaurant in Valletta, through the city archway, turn 1st left, then 2nd left up the hill and right at the top - gorgeous food and a very welcoming chef. Another dinner at outside restaurant a short walk down the main street was lovely. Malta buses are excellent and very cheap. Visit Mdina without fail - beautiful walled town and so calm & peaceful - good restaurants too. All in all an excellent 5 day break as weather lovely and warm also.
