“Convenience and Comfort”
While we only stayed in Malaga one night (late afternoon flight arrival from the States - and off to our next destination in the morning), we were totally pleased with the Barcelo Malaga. It was so convenient to walk out of the baggage area of the Malaga airport, across to the train station and catch the very reasonably priced train to Maria Zambrano train station. There is an entrance to the hotel in the station - just to your right after you exit the station turnstyles. The staff was very helpful - providing a map to the city center. It was an easy walk to the center of Malaga and the harbor - we enjoyed the tapas and beer - and the walk through the harbor area. Back to the hotel for a much needed night of sleep (can't get much sleep on the airplane) - the bed was the most comfortable we found during our two week stay in Spain and Portugal. We enjoyed the variety of the food available at the buffet breakfast and then a quick walk to the bus station - and off to our next stop in Spain (Granada). We were glad to have purchased our bus tickets the day before - as the bus was sold out (just a hint for travelers using the bus system).
“Stay Elsewhere”
This hotel is off the beaten path in Malaga. If you only need an place to sleep and shower this would work, but not for the money being charged. The hotel is a 20-25 mins walk to the Centro, through what appears to be a rough part of town. The internet service at the hotel was shoddy at best. Had issues logging on with my laptop and Ipad, eliminating any concern that it was my machine. The sugguestion from their front desk, "try stealing another wifi connection". Our TV in our room did not work. The remote control was broken, and could not get to any of the English channels. When I called the front desk to assist, the manager came up to our room at 10:20pm to try himself. After numerous attempts, he said "technology is my strenght". Stay somewhere else. Out of all of our stays this was by far the worst!!
“Fantastic!!”
Loved the hotel. The location was great, next to the train station. There was even shopping at the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful!
“Great Hotel in Malaga”
This is a very nice, modern hotel right next door to the train station in Malaga. Great location for travelers, we only stayed 2 nights before heading to the south of Spain for the holiday. This was the best hotel we stayed in while visiting Spain. Clean room with a great shower!!!
“Great location, right next to the train station”
This hotel was a good place to start our vacation with taking a cruise out of this port.
“Exceptional quality at a great value”
This is probably the best hotel at the best price I have stayed in all of Spain, making it an exceptionally good value. The hotel is very chic, very modern. The rooms are large, well decorated with interesting art pieces, creative lighting and a stunning bath room with a shower head that sprays high pressure water from a dozen different locations for a great back massage! The bed was large and comfortably, the room was impeccably clean, the staff was exceptionally helpful and courteous. For what would cost two people for one night of a typical hostal shared room, Barcelo Malaga gives you tons of amenities, and stretches your euro. I will be looking for Barcelo hotels in future trips to Spain, and this one is Malaga will always stay with me as one of the best "budget" hotels I have ever stayed. Nothing is "budget" about this hotel other than its price (as of August 2010).
“Great Hotel! Perfect for Cruise travelers!”
This hotel was great! Very "hip" and had a great vibe! Next to the train station, mall and a close taxi ride from the Magala port if you are going on the cruise ships! Only 15 minutes walk from the heart of the city, the historic buildings, shops and more. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Staff was great, the all spoke English very well. Bathrooms were rroomy and modern. You will love it!
“Excelent Hotel but:”
The Hotel is excellent, the personnal plus plus. It is a shame that the construction around the train terminal where the hotel is located is almost impossible to reach the hotel. But after you get there everything is wonderful. It is a temporary situation. Parking is available on the train terminal, and the hotel validate your ticket so it is free. The terminal is full of restaurants and cinemas, actually you do not need to go out at all. Great
“Modern decor, Nice Rooms and Staff”
Breakfast was included and it was wonderful. The hotel is near a mall so there is plenty to do near by. It is a modern hotel with all the comforts - great place to stay when in Malaga.
“Great hotel and great location.”
The hotel is in the train station with a direct link to the airport. The station itself is like a mall with shops and restaurants. Also the hop-on/hop-off tour bus stops right outside. The complimentary breakfast was great and there were many channels on the T.V.
