“Spotty but good overall”
This is a nice chain type hotel, but it it is under construction. Noise was no issue, but I did not have air conditioning despite it being advertised. While London doesn't usually require it, it is July and I was on the third floor, so it was a bit warm for sleeping in comfort. The staff was fairly mixed too: some of the people working there were very friendly and helpful, like the desk clerk who helped with some difficulties I had with the wireless system, but I also needed some more tissues because of an allergic reaction I was having and a different desk clerk wouldn't get me any, telling me that "housekeeping had just left."She took my room number and said she said someone up with them but I never did get any; ended up blowing my nose on the extra toilet paper in the room. Would I stay again? For the same price, I'd try again, but I wouldn't pay more for it. It was conveniently located and other than the AC issue, very comfortable.
“Doubletree London”
The hotel is well situated, near an underground line (very close to a couple of train stations) and restaurants. It seems clear the Doubletree has recently taken over this property, as the hotel (outside the lobby area) is in shabby condition. Carpets are ragged, molding is missing on woodwork, and they badly need to repaint common areas. Rooms are small but comfortable, with nice bathrooms. Be careful about using the phones, as charges are very high. However, the location, general comfort of the rooms, and a relatively nice lobby made it a generally good experience and fairly good value.
“Okay”
The only problem I had with this hotel is being treated fairly. At check-in I felt other customers were treated better than we were because they had not booked their trip through a travel agency. Housekeeping was completed even if the do not disturb sign was on the door. Otherwise the hotel is in a great location.
“Disappointed for a tourist”
Breakfast buffet was good. Room was way too small. It wasn't really close to anything we wanted to see, so we spent for ever on buses and walking. London was wonderful, but hard to find someplace nice to eat. People were friendly. We actually had a man get off the bus and accompany us to where the right bus was for us.
“Good hotel with nice rooms”
Good hotel, newly renovated, easy walking distance to most West End sights. Some snags: Only one guest elevator. Breakfast is buffet only and not a very good buffet. I would avoid it and go out to Patisserie Valerie a block away on Sicilian Avenue instead.
“Good value, good location”
I had a short stay in London and wanted to be close to the theater district and close to a Pickadilly line to be able to get to Heathrow easily. This hotel is two blocks from the Holborn station, close to Kings Cross and the British Museum. My single room was small but well done with every thing I could want, and very quiet. Very nice breakfast. Got a great rate for this location on Expedia.
“Wouldn't stay again”
Not worth the stay for the price. Rooms are very small and the shower was terrible.
“Lost its Charm”
I have stayed at this hotel many, many times when it was the Bonnington. The hotel has gone through many changes, and to be honest its not the same. As the Bonnington there was a nice sitting lounge, where you could meet friends, or have an informal drink, now you only have the bar to sit in at any time of the day, (Somehow this is not appropriate for children) as the lounge has been blocked off. The concierge staff were plentiful, now they are hardly arround, the air conditioning did not work, everyone at breakfast complained about it. To summarize, this hotel was our base when in London, now I am searching for a new place to stay. As the Park Inn, its definately not the same, its lost its atmosphere and charm, definately not worth the money.
“Laid back, quiet and contemporary”
We enjoyed this hotel due to the fact that no matter how busy it was when we went down for breakfast in the morning we always felt like we were the only guests staying there. It is also in a great location, close to the tube and several other destinations are in walk distance. We would recommend this hotel to others and would stay there again.
“Indifferent service -- nothing special”
The location is fine with great restaurants and pubs in the area. It is very close to the British Museum and close to tube stops. The hotel service is indifferent. When house cleaning threw out our contact lens case we were told that we must be mistaken so we searched the room. We did not find the case but did find trash under the bed from a previous guest (papers, soda bottle, etc.). Our room keys and those of our friends traveling with us did not regularly work. Our room phone did not work for placing outside calls making it very difficult to connect with friends in London. Again we were told that we were mistaken but try as we did the phone never worked during our 8 day stay. Our stay felt basic and we did not look forward to returning to the hotel.
