“5 star everything including value”
What a gorgeous hotel, superb views, clean, comfortable, friendly helpful staff and a fantastic location right on the seafront and only a ten minute stroll into up market Cascais. Buffet breakfast was most excellent, best I've had in many years of hotel stays with a beautiful view listening to the waves breaking on the rocks below. Make sure you eat in the hotel restaurant, you will be in for a gourmet treat.
“Stunning, Absolutely Stunning....”
If you are planning a holiday to Cascais definitely stay at the Farol Design Hotel. From the minute our taxi pulled up at the front entrance I was impressed. The staff are amazing - nothing is too hard or impossible, the cocktail list impressive, and the location is a dream. Extremely impressed and will be back.
“I would go back”
The hotel is an odd mix of old & mod on the outside, but lovely clean lines and bright colour inside. Breakfast (served till 11am so you can sleep in!) was always enjoyable and out on the deck on sunny mornings overlooking the see is a great way to start the day. Dinner was enjoyable with impeccable service, but I felt overpriced and much preferred going to the marina or town for the food itself. Being a smaller hotel, they know their guests and greet with a smile, the reception and restuarant staff warrant specific mention for being helpful and very friendly. Our room had a lovely sea view (no balcony)- not a designer room, and apart from the suites, of comparable size to the non-suite designer rooms. Its an easy drive to Guincho or walk to Cascais and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and easy for day trips to Lisbon and Sintra. I would happily stay there again.
“Addictive Designs...”
We spent three nights in the Farol Design Hotel last easter (2006), our arrival was very early in the morning and our room wasn't ready so we were invited to a welcome drink at the bar. Few minutes later we were told that there was something special for us (we have booked a standard double room with seaviews) and taken to one of the rooms decorated by portugues designers, this one in particular by Miguel Vieira, a big room with a light, clear, white decoration and design furniture. The bathroom was big with a jacuzzi, a separate shower and a separate toilet. We had drinks both early evening and late nights in the bar and the staff was always very attentive. All in all a beautiful place with superb views and a team of nice and helpful people working there.
“Great relaxing experience”
This is a top notch hotel, that gives the customer a feel for resort life. The staff was exceptional and satisfied our every need. The location is outstanding and a short walk to the heart of Cascais. I would strongly suggest staying during the week. My only complaint is the proximity to Coconuts, a night club nearby. The music is loud on Friday and Saturday night. Our room was farthest away and we could still hear the base of the music with our windows and drapes closed. Other than that, our stay was wonderful and the food at the restaurant was exceptional.
“HIghly recommended”
An incredibly friendly hotel with a high level of service. The hotel has a great location right on the sea, a 10 minute walk from the centre of Cascais. We found the restaurant food with its great selection of sushi a real treat, the best in Cascais, and the best location. overall, the hotel has an incredibly relaxed feel to it. If you're looking for a bit of luxury.. this is the place
“Great oceanside hotel”
Really enjoyed our stay. The room and room's balcony had a great view of the ocean. The room was very spacious by european standards and clean. The bed was large and comfortable. The breakfast was excellent.
“New Years Delight”
We booked into hotel on Boxing Day. Our friends had arrived from Ny earlier & the hotel staff could not have been more accomadting. Even though the hotel was sold out-they still tried to place us in rooms next to each other. We opted for our original minimalist AMOR room-all white, but with the most amazing view of the ocean waves crashing on the rocks. We were on the quiet side of the hotel & so had no noise from Coconuts, our friends were closer to disco & did comment on the bass from music on weekend. The hotel restaurant was fantastic, although a bit big on the foam craze! New Years dinner was great; and they were even nice enough to credit my partner's New Years meal when he was too ill to stay for dinner & offered to make him a special meal during New Years Day brunch. I don't know how anyone could complain about this hotel. The staff, views, food, rooms & proximity to Lisbon wre all fantastic. Can't wait to go again.
“Yay”
This was a father-daughter trip for me and I have to admit, upon viewing the pictures of the hotel online, I was a little afraid it was going to be too "hip" for my small town dad. But with all of the glowing reviews, I decided to book anyway. Everything was wonderful. We got a room with a beautiful view, we listened to the ocean at night, everyone in the hotel was very nice and helpful, and my dad was extremely happy. The only bump that we hit during our stay was at the very beginning. After an overnight flight from the U.S., we arrived at the hotel only to find that check-in wasn't until 3pm. However, the staff did everything they could to shorten the amount of time that we had to wait. A very minor inconvenience. Everything else was awesome! Yay!
“Beautiful view”
Although I didn't have a waterfront room, it sure felt like it...lovely private patio outside my room had nice lounge chairs, a pretty palm tree and great view of the water. There was a nice breakfast buffet and a nice walk into town. The edgy feel of the hotel gave me a laugh...just because that's not my style, but people into that will love it. Very nice stay...
