A total disappointment
Overall a very disappointing stay for my family and I wouldn't recommend the resort to anyone who appreciates good hospitality. The good about this place: Nothing memorable really, maybe except the nice uniforms of the receptionists. The bads: 1) Late check-in at 4pm on day of arrival; 2) Room wifi signal was almost non existent; 3) Both lifts were not working for most of the time we were there, making it a challenge for the elderly people and children with us. When asked, resort management said there was nothing they could do about it and what was more appalling was we were told that "normally only 1 lift would be spoilt"; 4) Reception could not be bothered with our repeated requests for a bottle opener even though they promised us to deliver it to the room; and 5) Overcharging for breakfast - we noticed that we were charged different prices for our 3-day stay. When asked, the receptionist initially acknowledged that we were overcharged for 2 of the 3 days. However the resort management subsequently retracted their words and said that we were undercharged for 1 of the 3 days. So instead of giving us a refund, we had to make additional payment. As we were in a rush to catch our flight, we did not bother to argue with them further. But it goes to show how the resort management deals with such issues.

needs significant improvement
the check in time was less than satisfactory (3pm), even though I had made prior communication with the resort. A further point is that we requested a check out at 1pm .which was accepted but we got a call in the room to leave by 12. A typical case of too many decision makers.Two final points- I called for the bell service- they did not come, in fact my went to the ground to fetch the bell trolley. We thern went on to physically take our baggage to the ground floor and fInally taxi. The public lift worked on arrival but failed thereafter and was shut down. our travel to our room was via the stair well. .

The kids enjoy the pool and beach. But the sea water is muddy and dirty. The hotel is managed by different parties, which is confusing when you need a little assistance from them.

It is a good experience to stay at Langkawi. I stayed 2 nights and the best thing is the bed, which soft and clean. The facilities is quite good and the room is special

The hotel is good only from one perspective - It's near Cenang beach. If you have a plan to do a lot of water-sport then it's a better choice. Ours was a sea/hill view so, that way the room was good. Another good is is the breakfast. Following 2 major problems in the room: 1) Water pressure was too less in our room while taking the shower in mornings 2) Air conditioning placement in rooms is really weird. You need to wait for really long time for rooms to get cold 3) Reception staff is really Indifferent to these problems even though you highlight it to them. Another major issue with Hotel.com - We booked this room assuming that we will get a room with kitchen. However, hotel staff did not allow us to use kitchen at all saying there was a notice from local authorities not to use the gas in hotel rooms. We should have been informed about it by Hotels.com as I booked this hotel by talking to your customer care.

The hotel management has to be real careful as there is no pool guard (for Langkawi Lagoon Resort) while the swimming is open. I saw kids playing in the pool without adult, not to say that I have to walk to another pool (nearby the main lobby) to get my pool towels.

Vey good stay with helpful and friendly stuff. The room, deluxe suite, was very clean and is perfect if you look for a nice stay with your partner. The breakfast was good, it contained western food such as croissants, jam, charcuterie as well as malaysian food. Facilities are good as well. Hotel residents are from various countries, particularly from arabic parts of the world. The only thing I didn't like was that people sometimes swam in the pool with their clothes, which is not ok from a hygienic point of view. Wifi is poor... Overall experience however is good!

i'm from UAE. i stayed in this hotel from 28/3/2015 to 1/4/2015 with my family. i booked three rooms. first of all the hotel location is amazing. you will feel your in honey moon. it's very big hotel. you can take as many pic's as you can, more than nice. you can order food to your room like italian food, it's very tasty and cheap, the breakfast has huge amount of food, it's soo good. if you want arabic resturant you will find with in the same hotel. it's called layaly Esham. very good. me and my family enjoy this hotel alot. by the way the hotel contain three hotels at the same time. one inside the sea ( made of Wood), one like tower building " the one you see in the main pic for the hotel in this website and one like villa's. that's why i like walking in this very big hotel. 100% you will enjoy it, most of the guest are honey moon couples.

Amazing all-rounded hotel, excellent service
My husband and I loved everything this hotel. The breakfast buffet was delicious, the range of food was huge and the best thing was the pool/ocean view whilst having breakfast- we looked forward to it every morning! The views whilst walking around the hotel complex were simply beautiful. Staff were always happy to help and everytime we needed anything it was promptly dealt with.

It is a good hotel except that the cleaning of the room was not done when we was out until 4 pm until I asked them to do so. The breakfast and the serving staff for were fantastic

i spend three nights there, the experience was terrible, there is no facilities in the resort plus the room is full of Gecko's and insects the breakfast is bad i spend 2 and half hours to do the check-in, and they are not care for any thing, i will never recommend this resort to any body

Second visit to Langkawi
Staff is very friendly and late check out at 15:00 hours appreciated. Room was very clean but some of the electric fittings are loose and more maintenance would be good. Shuttle service from and to the airport does not exist but the taxi is only 16 Ringgit, so it is not a big deal but should be removed from the services that are listed on the hotel reservation page. The sea view rooms are excellent and so is the pool. Swimming in the ocean in front of the hotel is not an option as the sea floor is muddy and the water not clear. The restaurant menu has good titles and explanations but the contents may not really fit. The beef steak salad is a joke, better stick to the fried rice (Nasi Goreng, that is cheaper and much better.

Overall The Hotel is Nice and I recommend it to all!! The Hotel's Staff were very helpful, Facilities of the Hotel are in good condition. The disadvantage was only in the first impression! Check in was not good! I had to wait for a time then the receptionist informed me that my booking was't paid. And he had to take another 5 mins to confirm that it's fully paid. When I get my room, the view was not expected as I book a sea village suite. Even though the manager upgrade the type of the room but the view still the same. However, For sure I'll stay in Langkawi Lagoon again but I'll make sure that I'll have fully sea view suite. :)

When we arrived we were told our reservation was canceled because we didn't prepay. A credit card was given when the reservation was made and we received an email two days prior stating we had the reservation and no action was needed. We were not the only guests with problems at check in. Everyday we were there we saw unhappy guests trying to check in. Also, all other requests including housekeeping and tour booking took multiple calls and an unexceptable amount of extra time. Apart from a few friendly workers, the staff was unhelpful and unfriendly.

The hotel has both a new wing and an old wing. Stayed at the old wing, where is was a bit run down. Rooms are in need of a refurbishment. Cafe staff at the old wing cafe needs proper training as they are unable to handle most request efficiently. Ordered 3 hot chocolates and 1 coffee but when they came with the coffee, that was the time they told us there is no more hot chocolate. I was unable to leave because the coffee has already been served. Hence my family would have to wait without a drink for me to finish my coffee. Nevertheless, the concierge dept is very helpful. One of them actually gave us a lift to a nearby restaurant (~2km away) and came to pick us up after the meal. In conclusion, the hotel needs quite a bit of improvement before reaching a true 5 star hotel.

Good hotel, service could be better.
Good hotel with peaceful surroundings, secluded, so will need a taxi/own car for other activities. Facing a lagoon, so water mostly standstill, beach rocky, good enough for only dipping your feet, also water rather murky as being not open to sea but shielded by break water. Hotel maintained in good condition, but staff at reception a big let down, no response after even 3 calls on first night over a period of more than a hour, and bordering on arrogance next morning at reception desk. The hotel amongst its facilities lists a kitchenette but whose use is discontinued in all rooms due to a purported earlier incident of a major fire incident. The above combined with the secluded location may result in some inconvenience for families with small children. Also depending on room service/reception may not help the situation. The hotel has an Arabic restaurant & so is popular with people from the Middle-east who also seem to be a focus of this hotel. Ultimately a good hotel let down by its staff's attitude. Strongly recommend to rent your own car if staying here.

Not worth the price
We stayed at the langkawi lagoon resort in July 2014. In terms of what we paid, then we have to admit we are quite disappointed. The hotel it self it a very worn out, however the room has a decent size. Our bath and sink in the bathroom was clogged, so the water ran out very slowly. The room service got our order wrong and had to take back two out of four dishes, the bread we got was stale. Even second time the waiter came with our dishes, it was still not as described in the menu. The beach is decent, however you can't go in the water, as it is treacherous and you will sink in on every other step you take. Stayed July 2014, traveled as a couple

Great value hotel in Langkawi
I spent a lot of time looking for a hotel with a private beach in Langkawi that was not over priced. We stayed at the Langkawi Lagoon, which was cheaper than the Ombak Villas. Well, I'm not a fan of their private beach but everything else was great. We stayed during off-peak season so the hotel was very quiet. They had consolidated everything to the Ombak Suites. They have an infinity pool and also an outdoor dining area. We had the daily breakfast buffet which features a changing menu. One night we decided to have dinner at the hotel and it was good. Many choices and very good quality. The room was a little dated. The AC was not noisy during the night. We wanted a king bed but instead got a combined double bed. The sheets were also combined double bed until we requested it changed. The +: restaurant, swimming pool. The -: older room, private beach not that great.

We were upgraded to the Umbak Villas which were completed only six months ago. The room was spacious and had everything you could ask for. Staff were excellent in every facet of the hotel. They were always friendly and courteous and couldn't do enough for you. My friend and I spent 10 days here and would be pleased to come back again with our husbands!

I went there in March 2014 with my family comprising two kids. The pools, food and hotel services are good, but the room was not up to the mark and not a good value for money. I recommend not to stay in the sea lodges or in the old villa - the newer section is better though.

The room we booked (deluxed seaview room) turned out to be looking old, quite different from the pictures we saw on the website. Instead of a King bed, which was what i requested for, they have joined both twin beds and make it into a king for us, and so instead of a big blanket, we had 2 single blankets. We were pleased that they have quickly changed us to a studio suite after we have raised this to the staff at the hotel reception. However, It was quite disappointing to find out that the pool near our hotel room was undergoing maintenance. There was construction truck near the beach and etc which was not highlighted in the website. Although there's another swimming pool in the hotel but it is quite a fair bit to walk from the old wing to the new wing.

For the price of the room and the pictures online this is a bit disapointing when you discover the room (very old) and that the beach of the hotel is not that nice (the Hotel even propose shuttles to go to Cenang Beach). it is definitely not a 4 stars resorts and you will get the minimum services and aminities. Buffets are overpriced too. i would recommend to rent a car and go else where for activities, beach and restaurants. So that being said it is then for sure a bit too expensive for just spending a night here.

My stay was for myself and my parents over 60, so I booked a deluxe room with sea view - king bed + extra sofa bed, free wifi & breakfast, for 17/12/2013 - 21/12/2013. Note that all rooms don't have microwaves as advertised on this site! I had to show them the hotels.com website to prove it, as well as my full confirmation under my username (thank god for my iPad& free wifi)! Had to constantly call reception to replace toilet seat, light bulbs, prepare 3rd bed, provide cutlery and amenities for 3 people, all on the first day after check in. After that it was smooth sailing. The sofa bed is not that comfy due to the old spring mattress, but 3 adults could also sleep quite comfortably on the king bed. Generally the hotel charming but weathered. Room was generally very clean & service excellent despite communication issues! Always be specific in your requests. Taxis readily available at most times & reasonable provided you agree on fare before getting in. Breakfast was good. If you're looking for peace and quiet island stay without overspending, this is a good choice. By the way, the airport is literally 10 minutes away. Also,strongly suggest renting a car to get around for freedom of movement as most attractions are at least a 15 minute drive away.

Too expensive for what's being offered
The hotel's location is good ....with respect to the view and all. But the private beach cannot be used at all. The pools are good and enough for the kids to hang around. Not many other facilities on offer at the hotel. I suggest to rent a car and drive around to enjoy the island. We stayed at the suite at the sea villas . They are good but pretty dated. I would not rate it more than a 3 star when it comes to the sea villas. For over 350usd/ night ...I was expecting a better room. The stay was pleasant and memorable only due to the fact that the sea villas are on water..... Apart from that .....the stay was pretty average.

I throughly enjoyed my stay at lagoon resort. Hospitality was at its best. On my day of checking the room allocated to me was unfortunately not cleaned in time. Instead of asking me to wait till it gets cleaned, I was upgraded to a villa with no additional cost. I will definitely highly recommend lagoon resort. Everything was perfect
