“Perfect location, great price”
Trying to decide where to stay on Lake Como was no easy task, but I think we lucked out. Riviera is right near the ferry stop which can take you anywhere on the lake. The restaurant was really good and reasonably priced, and the staff was helpful and accommodating. They also speak good English. The beds were not the best, but that's typical in Europe. The view from our room was amazing. Both the bedroom and bathroom had nice windows. I was hoping for a balcony, but can't complain for the price. The bathroom was modern, even has a bidet. Be prepared for tablecloths instead of towels. Bring your own washcloth if you need one. Many reviews reference a noise problem, which is valid, but only if the windows are open, and only until 11pm when the ferries stop runnning. We were there in mid October as the season was winding down, so it's possible that it might be worse with more people around. Bottom line...Cadennabia was a great landing point which enabled us (by car...GPS is a must have)to see the entire lake. Hotel Riviera provided us with a clean place to sleep, a nice place to eat, and a fabulous view and location. If budget is a consideration, this place is a no-brainer. After visiting the more expensive hotels I had contemplated staying at, I found many of the rooms with balconies are wasted because of obstructed views and distance from the water. My advice is not to spend the extra money for a premium room.
“Can't wait to go back"”
Great!
“Great 3 star hotel”
We spent a couple of days at the riviera. It was a great hotel, typical 3 star european hotel. Manager was extreamely helpful and gave us lots of ideas of things to do. I would definitely go back. It is not too noisy at all facing the street and we had a nice view of the lake. We stayed in november so a/c was not an issue--make sure to bring some sweaters and jacket when walking around.
“Loved Hotel Riviera and especially the proprietor”
Everyone was extremely friendly, especially the proprietor, who has a real gift for humor and friendliness. He gave great advice on getting around Lake Como, and all the sights to see, and even advised on a good driving route to take when we had to leave and go to Venice. We had an excellent stay and when we return we would certainly stay there again. Loved the restaurant, as well--good food, friendly service, nice atmosphere. Of course, the road in front of the hotel is full of traffic, but that is just part of being at Lake Como, and to me, is just part of the character of the region. Oh, and we also had an excellent view of Bellagio, the Lake and the mountains behind them from our room. All was wonderful.
“Good”
Staff was helpful. Location is good. Has free wifi although it was weak on the top floor (strong in lobby).
“Great stopping point.”
We stayed in Lake Como for a few night before spending a couple of nights in Milan. This hotel was the perfect stopping point on the west side of the lake. Staff were great. It's definitely more of a nice family run place than an anonymous corporate hub.
“Great location, but noisy”
There is only one road that goes around the lake and it runs right in front of the hotel. The traffic goes on into the night and gets even louder then. Since there is no AC you have to keep a window open. The room was very small, the decor of the hotel a bit tacky, but it was clean. This is not quite a three-star hotel, maybe two and a half. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is no wi-fi, you have to sit near the front desk to get a connection that works. Breakfast was okay.
“Clean and tidy on a busy road”
We enjoyed our stay in this hotel. The owners were friendly and extremely helpful with useful tips regarding our travel enquiries. We found the room very clean and tidy and comfortable, although a little tired looking. Our room had a good view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate. The hotel is on a busy road however the noise was not a problem as we stayed here in September and the nights were cool, so our windows were closed when we were sleeping. It is near a ferry stop and the bus stop is next door.
“A decent, spartan, inexpensive place to stay.”
Hotel Riviera is an inexpensive, yet decent place to stay. It is on the other side of the lake from Bellagio, with a pleasant view of the aforementioned during the day and evening. It is less expensive to stay in Cadenabbia and there is equally less to do, but the privacy and quiet is nice, as well. If you stay here, get a room overlooking the lake. When the sun is shining, there is nothing better than opening all the windows in the room and have the marvelous view! Also, the restaurant downstairs in the hotel has the best pizza I had in all of Italy. Have a great trip. Ciao!
“Too noisy!”
The Rivera unfortunately is right on the main road around Lake Como to Milan. The constant 24 hr traffic is really disturbing. No air conditioning, so you must sleep with windows open, ear plugs and a pillow over your head. And still the traffic is loud enought to keep one awake. Outside this distraction, the hotel itself is clean, comfortable, the staff is polite and helpful, and the food good. Beautiful view of Lake Como. However we were on vacation to rest and relax. We moved to a different location after a miserable attempt at a nights sleep.

Area:
Cadenabbia, Italy: Cadenabbia may lack the cachet of some more fashionable neighbouring resorts, but its agreeably sedate hotels enjoy views no less appealing from their vantage points above the Tremezzina waterfront. Here the lake is at its widest point with regular ferry services to Bellagio and Varenna. Long favoured by the British, its Anglican church dates from 1891. The lakeshore lido has a pleasant terrace café.
