“Lovely small hotel, wonderful location”

We spent 16 nights in the Montien House in February 2013. It is a lovely small hotel, in a fabulous beachfront location, also very close to the centre of Chaweng town. We found the standard double room to be excellent - it was spacious, finished to a good quality with smart furniture and a pretty verandah. Montien House has very nice gardens which provide an oasis of tranquility from the bustle of Chaweng. Montien House is a well-managed hotel and the staff are gracious and hospitable. Breakfast was very good. Rooms are kept very clean, as is the swimming pool. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a comfortable, clean, characterful hotel without five-star pretensions (and prices).

“Good value, bad locality”

It's a bit old and a bit tired, but excellent value. Absolute beach front, beautiful and safe swimming beach. Restaurant overlooking bay offered offered ample, included breakfast, good quality meals, and a four hour happy hour with very cheap drinks. But, they charged a whopping 27% for service and taxes, whereas other nearby on the beach restaurants had all inclusive prices. Central position on Chewang Beach meant we could take advantage of nearby bars and eateries. Downside was the ever present drainage smell outside, and the very grotty Chewang Beach shopping strip, made worse by drainage works which caused the footpaths to be even more treacherous. We would recommend to a friend, but with reservations.

“great beach for kids.”

We stayed in January 2012 with our 3 young children. We had two rooms as family rooms are not available but this was OK. Breakfast was OK, position of hotel was fantastic. Right in the heart of all the action. The beach at this end of Chaweng is really good for kids as the waves are not as rough. Would I stay here again, sure. Worth the money, even though the rooms need a little TLC. Staff were always friendly and the pool was nice.

“Butlins holiday camp”

Heard great reviews about this place... Hotel overall was satisfactory but the service especially at breakfast was ridiculous. Very rude staff, no good morning, no hello no nothing... They couldn't wait to get rid of the guests.. Shame really as when I came here 10 years ago service over the whole island was so different . You can tell now due to the influx of people this island is like a holiday camp for young British lads going mad on cheap booze and women.. Magaluf would be a better option... Hotel was situated right on the main strip, nothing much Thai about chaweng... It's more like spot the local.... Indians and English.... Go to Lamai get a bungalow on the beach for 400 bht a night and you'll have a great time.. Never to return to chewing

“Experince at Montien house”

The room that i got wasn't clean. The floor was broken and everything look very old and in not so good condition. window was broken. on the other hand the price was O.K. so it covers in some point on the low quality. The location is excellent and Tom from the managment was very positive.
