“Great Hotel”
Terrific hotel - very modern & clean. The hotel is connected to the Wanderers club with several sport courts. There is a good restaurant across the street from the hotel at the Wanderers club.
“Ideal hotel for a nice vacation”
The hotel is right next to the wanderers club and adjoins the wanderers cricket stadium. The property is very next and clean and the lobby is spacious. The Sandton city which is a huge mall is close by- just about 3km away. The hotel has a round the clock shuttle service( privately run) called Lux which is really professional. In Johannesburg where security is an issue, these travel guys really make your visit very secure and convenient. the lounge bar is excellent and the morning breakfast is awesome. The staff is very courteous indeed. All in all, well worth the money you pay.....
“Would definitely stay in this hotel chain in the future”
The hotel was better than I had expected. The staff were very friendly and helpful and were more than happy to arrange tours for me. The only downside (and this has nothing to do with the hotel itself) is that the taxi fare to and from the airport was very expensive. However, the hotel itself exceeded my expectations and I would deinitely recommend it to other travellers.
“Best Choice”
This hotel is the best choice of all as its location is in safe area, the staff is very friendly and do anything to make you stay worth it. Always smiling faces, professional staff, clean room, sport activity opportunities, great food, club which you can spend time and the wide grounds of the hotel which is safe all the time. What are you looking for more? Book for this hotel now... Oh of course, how can I forget, apple everywhere, you would understand what I mean whenever you get to the hotel :)
“Excellent business hotel”
Stayed here for a week in April 08 and couldn't fault the service or staff. Rooms of a very high std - including UK style electric sockets, high speed reliable wireless connection (c10UKP per day), large flat screen TV with approx 15 channels, good tea and coffee making facilities. Staff were always friendly and helpful without being overbearing. Breakfast buffet was excellent and evening menu was also good as was standard of food. In-hotel taxi service was reliable and fairly priced which is important as the hotel is located in a quite suburb from which transport is essential. Best to make sure it is near where you want to be (allow for Jozi's dreadful traffic jams!) and if so then I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
“Can't wait to go back”
The hotel and staff were excellent. It was always a pleasure to return to the tranquility of the hotel after a busy day. The staff were always extremely friendly, courteous and helpful and made my stay one of the best I've had in Johannesburg. I will definitely go back and stay there when next I return to Johannesburg. I also felt very safe there.
“Wonderful hotel in safe area”
This was a terrific hotel. The rooms were simple but nicely appointed. The hotel is located in a safer area of Johannesburg with many excellent restaurants nearby in Rosebank and also shopping. For those interested in local crafts it is quite near the African Craft Market and rooftop market on Sundays. Unfortunately, apparently not uncommon to JoBurg, we lost power one night and the hotel had candles for everyone to use in their rooms which made me a bit uncomfortable. The food was excellent served in a nice dining room. Service was great although the desk folks didn't seem too knowledgeable about things in the area. A bit pricey ride to the airport ~$35 US dollars at the current exchange rate of about R10 to the dollar. Taxis were always readily available from the hotel anywhere as we were advised not to walk. I would definitely stay there again if I ever go back. Hotel Protea has hotels all over South AFrica. Although I didn't stay at their other locations they looked quite nice.

Was a very good hotel in Johannesburg, South Africa. Near of Sandton City with a huge shopping mall and Nelson Mandela Square.
“Probably the best Hotel we have ever stayed in.”
From the Reception to the Kitchen Staff every one we met were Polite, helpful and seemed genuinely please to assist in any way they could. The hotel inside the Wanderers Club complex felt extremely secure and safe with space to walk off the excellent food supplied in the hotels restaurant, with a choice of sport's Cricket, Tennis or Bowls to watch.
“Protea Hotel Wanderers, Johannesburg South Africa”
I needed a place to stay while attending an international conference in Johannesburg South Africa. I picked the Protea Hotel Wanderers because it was next door to the conference venue. What a pleasant surprise. The hotel is well maintained with pleasant and professional staff. The restaurant and bar are comfortable and well appointed. I did have a few issues with my room. When I mentioned them to the desk clerk, she noted them and said they would be taken care of swiftly. They were! I am not accustomed to that level of response. I would recommend the Protea Hotel Wanderers to anyone intending to stay in Johannesburg. My only remaining complaint isn't really with the hotel as it is with the televisions. When you turn them on the volume is too loud. Even if you turn the volume down before turning the set off, when you turn it back on again it resets the volume level too loud.
