“Kowloon Hotel”

Very impressed with the service, I was given an upgrade to the executive floor and the food was excellent. Many hotels offer a good wifi system but don't deliver and people who use a VPN system have great difficulties but the Kowloon Hotel have a very good system.

Area recommendations

It depends on what my fellow travellers are looking for. If it is cheap knock off products then further up Nathan road around the Temple Street area is great, a little more high end would be the area just up from the hotel on Nathan road. Nightlife then I would suggest you stay on Hong Kong island side.

“Heart of the tourist area”

Great location as it's right on top of the MTR so you have easy access to everything. Easy 5 minute walk to the Ferry or nightly light show. Being the main tourist area you will have the touts but they're easy to ignore and don't pester as much as they use to. The breakfast buffet has lots of variety The rooms are small which I hear is the norm for this area. If you've spent any time in a motor home you'll feel right at home. Rooms with an adjoining door are not that private, you can hear conversations, etc....Also, there is no elevator security (door key is not required). Overall, I prefer to stay on the island

“Great location, Great Price, Great Hotel”

This was my first trip to Hong Kong, and I was there for a short business trip. The hotel was perfect. Great location within the city - walking distance to tons of stores and restaurants, and plenty of taxis for longer trips. Rooms were small, but extremely clean and well maintained. Overall, extremely satisfied!

“Small room, very convenient location - would return”

Hotel room was nice, clean & small but is to be expected in Hong Kong. Room smelt damp every now and then also. Very conveniently located for what we wanted. Underground transit practically outside front entrance. 7/11 just around the corner for those late night urges. Staff are helpful. Complimentary breakfast was basic, and room was booked for two people yet only one person was entitled to free breakfast with our booking - wasn't worth paying the extra for 2nd person to eat though so we left as is. Would return as we got a good price booking via Expedia at the time and was very reasonable for what we got.

Area recommendations

Markets on Kowloon Island are definitley worth the visit. Great bargains, food and atmosphere to experience - be prepared to haggle, and expect plenty of knock-off's on offer (alot of handbags etc).

Shopping

Shopping for all budgets in Hong Kong, and they cater for everything. We purchased a few electronics while we were there but they are sooo much cheaper in comparison to Australian prices, plus they have electronic stores as far as the eye can see :-) and are always willing to do a deal or chuck in freebies i.e we purchased a digital camera and received an extra battery, 8G memory card, tri-pod, camera case and a screen protector for free, and a very good price on the camera. Be mindful that when you buy electronics there and take back to your own country, you need to have the correct international adaptor to charge - or buy one while you're there from the markets. We did as we needed another spare and paid something like $10 HKD.

“very good for short stay”

Great hotel, is very clean, quiet and in a convenient location. Short walk to Star Ferry or MTA. Price compares favorably to other hotels in the area. The rooms are small but comfortable.

Hotel is very small, small rooms and u can tell it s old. Rooms are very, very small, but they are very clean, and the service of the maids is excellent. Location is Key. You can walk anywhere in Kolwoon and 5 min from the Ferry

“Great hotel, great location”

We were very satisfied and impresed with this hotel. All staff were very courteous, friendly and helpful, even non-frontline staff. Our stay was made more enjoyable by having an upper level room with partial views of the harbour and the Hong Kong skyline and gaining access to "Harbour Club" privileges.The location was very convenient being near ferry serivces, subway, good shops and several cultural facilities.

“Well located - Comfortable”

The Hotel is of a very good standard with first class food and facilities. My only problems were that the rooms were a little small and the drinks and meals were fairly expensive. Service was excellent.
