“Ideal location”

Great stay. Staff were eager to please. Breakfast buffet was very good. Swimming pool was very clean. Fitness studio could do with upgrade.

I had a fantastic time in Hong Kong and a large part of it was due to the location and convenience of the Island Pacific hotel. The location is a little away from the centre but we are talking 10 minutes on foot, you could literally get a tram to the centre from the door step of the Island Pacific, also one of the great perks about Hong Kong is that it is a great walking city, and the walk from this hotel to the centre is a leisurely one and one that I enjoyed. The staff were attentive and helpful, top marks to them, all request and questions were answered with due dilligence. The room was great also, maybe a tad small if you are use to large rooms, but clean, air conditioned, nice bathroom and beautiful view. Ok so the view doesn't overlook Kowloon harbour or centarl Hong Kong, but my room was on the 29th floor so I had a superb view of the general skyline of Hong Kong. Absolutely beautiful and really made my holiday that little bit better. It would be unfair to compare this to the larger hotels like say The Hyat, The Inter Conternental, or Shangri-Li all of whom are conveniently situated on Kowloon island over looking the waterfront, but what the Island Pacific lacks in bruvado it makes up for in charm and convenience. I would recommend this hotel to someone who is willing to be a little adventurous on their Hong Kong holiday or to someone who is already familiar with the city and simply wants a cheaper alternative to the big hotels. I loved it.

“Good Hotel Choice”

Hotel is in the far reaches or "Central" or even in the "Western" district. For the dollar, it's a good choice, if you like a nice hotel, clean room, good service and you don't mind or like being set-off a bit. ] Real authentic street life. Safe and secure, just looks a little more rustic. The room is comfortable: flat screen,bed,desk, chair, soft pillows, mini-frig safe, clost and smaller size bathroom. Everything is clean and housekeeping was excellent. There is no dresser. The Movie selection is horrible, but there is CNN, BBC and a couple other stations with english sometimes. No premimum channels. Internet access and comes with cable. There is a charge for internet access, weekly rate was really cheap. The harbor view from the room is interesting. The section of the harbor is that area before the more scenic areas downtown - you look out at ferries, tub boats and container ships. More an industrial feel with a mix of commerce. Fitness Room - one tread mill, one bike, one nautilis (good for bench work only). But, all the equipment is new and in good shape and the room is clean. Swimming pool pretty nice - clean and well kept. on the second floor (like the fitness room). Looks up at surrounding buildings - apartments. The provide towels and chairs and lounges. Tram is a 1/2 block away.

Impeccable service! My room was spacious and faces the harbor. Every personnel was friendly and accommodating. Traveling alone, I felt safe and cared for.

* They have a very good service. * All employees are English speaking which overcomes one of the major problem in Hong Kong. * Nice view of the harbour from the harbour front rooms. * Delicious foods in the cafe. ~ One bad issue, I badly suffered from smoking smell in the bathroomd even though the floor was non-smoking.

As I spent my childhood in Hong Kong I wanted to stay in a hotel which was fairly close to Central and also close to the local community. Island Pacific is both. Across the road is a mini wet market which gives you a true feeling of local Hong Kong, the tram line runs adjacent to the hotel and there are numerous shops nearby for essentials. The MTR line ends at Sheung Wan but this is only a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel or you can jump on the tram which takes about 5 minutes. The hotel is very clean and the staff are very pleasant and polite. I emailed to confirm my booking prior to leaving the UK and got a reply back 10 minutes later. As I was on my honeymoon I thought i'd try my luck and ask for a room upgrade to harbour view for no extra cost. They were happy to oblige. I would recommend Island Pacific everytime. Both myself and my new wife were extremely pleased with this hotel. Use the trams!!! $2 to go anywhere. Go to Shek-O on the south side, beautiful beach! Ocean Park is good for the kids. Wong Chi Kei noodle house in Lan kwai Fong in Central...the best find of our trip! Best noodles, rice, dumplings and choi sum in the world and all for a very small price! You must find this place!

“Terrific place to stay”

Superb hotel, a little out of the main area but with taxis as 'cheap as chips' its not a problem. Staff very friendly and helpful, Restaurant is excellant, ask about the 'breakfast package' as this cuts the price by half!!, this place is an air conditioned oasis, lots of local shops at the top of the road, 7eleven,fruitshops, and little local restaurants....the hotel restaurant serves a variety of cuisines and you can also eat in the bar. Pay the extra for a Harbour View room its not much and worth every penny, I loved it here and can't wait to go back. Should be 5star!

“Great Hotel”

Hotel is great, staff can't do enough for you. The rooms are spotless & beds really comfy, we were on 22nd floor & the view of the harbour was brilliant. Trams about 30m away, MTR 5 min walk. Only down side is that its in the middle of fish stalls/shops (sell shark fins ect.) Stalls & street are very clean but it does smell quite a bit! Very good value for money.
