Great location--10 minute walk or quick ride from the Central Station, which is also a great place to do some shopping and grab a meal any time of the day. Close to gay nightlife in Hamburg.
Room was okay for the price. Nicely decorated and finished out. I paid for a king room even though I was traveling solo because I like a big bed and extra space. The bed was fine. Not much extra space in the room, and the seating was limited to a small chair in the corner and an upholstered bench tucked under the desk/table across from the bed. There is a wide window sill, and they have pillows on that to make it look like a seating area, but it's really not unless you are under 100 pounds or a twelve year old. The window opened, which I love, but on the second floor--third floor in the U.S.--I could clearly hear conversations from folks sitting out at the street level bar, which went on until after 2 a.m. some days.
The staff were very efficient on check-in, but didn't greet me or even make eye-contact when I passed them by exiting and entering, which I did several times a day over the three nights I stayed. I understand German reserve, but those in the hospitality industry need to be more approachable and welcoming.
I'm torn about recommending this hotel. It is a great location, but they could be so much better if the staff and management cared and interacted with their customers.
