“Wonderful, friendly service”
My husband, daughter and myself stayed here for 3 days recently and found this hotel to be very clean, modern but still with a touch of Austrian appeal. Firstly we were warmly greeted by Elizabeth who checked us in and gave us information about the hotel and surrounding area and tours available. The hotel offers free car parking on the premises and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. It is located just off the road in Grodig and is very peaceful but still only a short walk from the local community. There is a little store next door which sells groceries and restaurants in walking distance. The bus into Salzburg is a 5 minute walk away, or the hotel offers tours from the front door. The owners speak very good English and always friendly and helpful, if we ever go back we will definately stay there again.
“Nice hotel in beautiful location”
This was a delightful hotel in a magnificent location. The hotel looked traditional, but was very modern. The rooms were large and had decent bathrooms, plus a private balcony with spectacular mountain views. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there was a computer in the lobby that guests could use free of charge. The location was excellent, with magnificent mountain scenery all around. There was a bus stop outside and a regular service to the Untersberg Mountain cable car in one direction, and to Salzburg city centre in the other; it was only about 12 minutes away from Salzburg Zoo and Hellbrunn Palace, and about half an hour from Salzburg train station. A good location for people who want to enjoy a mountain location without being too far away from the city or the airport. Breakfast is included, but only a cold buffet was available; no cooked breakfast was offered.
“Nice and quiet B&B close to Salzburg”
Very nice B&B in a sleepy little town of Grodig. Quiet and clean. Close to Salzburg- about 1/2 hour bus ride. Our price included breakfast, which was great. The service at breakfast was great too. The room was cleaned daily. But that's about it for service. I wouldn't call this place a "hotel". You could never get anyone on the phone when calling the front desk. And there was no one at the desk after 8 pm. We had a medical emergency and had to deal with everything on our own (I didn't expect them to deal with it per se, but for someone to be able to answer questions like where to call and how) There was no refrigerator in the room. You could only get drinks from the vending machine downstairs. And the hot drink machine would provide 1/2 a cup of hot water for tea for 1 Euro or Coffee for more. We are not picky travelers, but that was a bit annoying. We paid extra for Deluxe room, which was supposed to be bigger and have a sitting area. Knowing how small European rooms can be (we travel every year) we figured it was worth it. The room was small and had 2 chairs. No sitting area. I wonder how small their regular rooms are! Overall we had a pleasant stay, but I feel that the room was misrepresented a bit. Also putting a small refrigerator in the room (there was a cabinet for it!) and a tea kettle would make the guests a lot more comfortable, especially since the place is NOT a hotel, but B&B and you're on your own.
“Great Breakfast and Staff”
Nice Bed and Breakfast. Outside of Salzburg but easily reachable by local and frequent bus transportation. Breakfast is excellent! We felt that the Sallerhof was a great bargain. Staff was friendly and helpful. No air conditioning but we were there in May so it didn't make any difference.
“Grodig”
Breakfasts phenomenal. The only down side was no tea/coffee in rooms. Otherwise fantastic place to stay.
“Customer Service & Mosquitos”
The hotel is beautiful, rooms are large, and is very clean; however, there is a problem with mosquitos and a hot room. When we arrived in the evening, we found the room very hot so we opened the window and went to bed. Within an hour, my daughter started to toss and turn. We thought it was because of the room being hot but she kept complaining so we got up and turned the light on to see what the problem was--she had several mosquitos on her and lots of mosquito bites. We closed the window and then now had a hot room with mosquitos in it. In this hotel mosquitos are a problem as the hotel provides these plug-ins with mosquito repellent which are required to be plugged for about two hours for them to work but the room must remain for up to eight hours. My husband took two showers to cool off. The mosquito and heat problems could be easily fixed if the hotel had screens on the windows. I would not recommend this hotel in the summer. Unfortunately, our family did not enjoy our stay as we did not get enough sleep, got up tired and with a lot of mosquito bites.
