“Lovely quiet hotel.”
Had a lovely stay; family who run hotel were extremely helpful. Pool was great. Food in restaurant was good but menu extremely limited. However they cooked carbonara for us even though not on the menu! Town of Rufina deserted with no activity whatsoever. Nightlife nil with restaurant closing at 10.00pm. Train to Florence was easy - half an hour and Florence is always wonderful.
“Wonderful rural setting close to Florence”
My family spent four nights at this hotel. We day tripped to Florence, Pisa, Lucca, etc, all easy drives. (A car is necessary to make the most of this location.) The hotel was lovely, and the restaurant very good as well. The rooms were immaculate, and we enjoyed the beautiful Tuscan country side. There are many nearby towns, restaurants, etc. to make the area intersting. We recommend this hotel highly; it was family friendly, but also quiet and peaceful for a couple's getaway.
“Would definitely go back”
The hotel took us by surprise. It was lovely and the owners are so friendly and helpful. We would definitely go back. We are a young couple and loved the service we received and the style of the Hotel. Excellent stay.
“Tuscany experience!!!!”
Wonderful place, the only warning is the how to get there if you're driving and not from the area and don't have a very good GPS. We were lucky to find a wonderful lady in the near town of Rufina, that literally took us al the way there! We followed her car almost to the hotel, if wasn't for her I really don't know. Afterwards the location was exactly what we hopped for in Tuscany, so enchanting... we loved... Patricia & Barry from Victoria BC, Canada
“Loved It!!!”
We enjoyed the intimate environment of this unique hotel as well as the beautiful grounds it is situated in. The area is absolutely gorgeous and we enjoyed the wine vineyards. The Pool was perfect and we enjoyed it all to ourselves because the hotel was rather quiet. Rooms are comfortable and full of character. The owner of the hotel even drove us to the train station the day we left, since it was raining (for 5 Euros-which were the best 5 Euros I have ever spent) The Al a carte pasta at the hotels restaurant was delicious and affordable. We loved drinking a bottle of their own wine with dinner!! This hotel is really a hidden charm that is worth seeing
“Relaxing Hotel”
This was a very relaxing hotel. There was a pool and a quiet countryside to relax in. The restaurant at the hotel was delicious. They had a great chef. The room was big, however, the bathroom was in disrepair. The owners are constantly busy keeping the guests happy and satisfied. If you go to this resort get off the train in the actual town and do not take the train all the way to sorrento. You can walk or take a cab from the train station. If you like being immersed in Italy where very few people speak English then this hotel is a fun place to stay.
“Hotel OK but not for meals”
I really enjoyed the hotel, the pool and room was very good. The room has the aircon pipes built into the walls and ceiling so you do not get any noise. Less impressed with the catering breakfast is OK but you get exactly the same things each day. We never ate at hotel in the evening. The resturant was always empty and there were much better places nearby. Shame really with a bit of passion with the food this could be a 1st class place to stay
“Short of Staff”
Hotel was short of staff and partially closed after breakfast until 8pm The air cond took a long time to cool the room
“Would recommend”
My one piece of advice would be to take a different route to the hotel than we did. Arriving in a thunderstorm on a Sunday night in the dark, we followed the sat nav. Which took us up a tiny Italian moutain road, an uncomfortable experience. If you stay on the SS67 it takes you into Rufina and you can find the hotel from there fairly easily - it's signposted from the town centre. There isn't much to Rufina itself that we found, so went hungry for the first night as we didn't fancy the restaurant. Overall, we had a lovely stay - the staff were helpful and friendly whenever we needed them to be, and it really was only half an hour into Florence.
“Great pool”
Very helpful and friendly staff. Lovely pool in the grounds. Didn't find the road that splits the car park from the hotel a problem. Road isn't wide and you can clearly see in both directions before you cross. The room was quite small and the bathroom had barely enough space to swing a cat although other people we spoke to said theirs was fine. I wouldn't stay here unless I had transport and you have to go out and about to find anything to do as Montebonello is mostly residential.
