“Good Georgian Hotel, Good Location in Dublin”
The Castle Hotel is an a great example of Georgian architecture. As such, it could use a face lift in the reception areas, but the room was well maintained and clean. We had to take the lift to the 3rd floor (in the US 4th) and then go down 6 steps to get to our room - priceless and typical. Our room faced the street and was a little noisy, but not like Temple Bar area (which was still only a few blocks walk away). Unfortunately the Bell Tower of the Church across the street was being renovated - I had rather looked forward to hearing it toll hourly. The trio playing traditional Irish music in the pub on the weekends was lovely. The included breakfast was quite good with good variety and kept us going most of the day. The only real complaint is the parking. The directions to the lot are vague and the lot is not marked. Once in the lot, its like a medieval maze where you park as best you can and hope you are not blocking or being blocked. 10Euro a day is quite a bargain, but I wasn't happy to leave my rental car keys at reception although I understand its necessity. I do think that the situation is well managed considering the challenges of parking in Dublin itself. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and loved being in Dublin. When we return, the Castle Hotel will certainly be considered again.
“Goodbreakfast and wifi”
Great value hotel, good location (a 15 - 20 minute walk to Trinity College), excellent wifi in the rooms. Hotel could do with a little TLC, but was good for the price.
“Would certainly book this hotel again.”
Hotel has lots of 'character', staff is friendly and helpful. Good food and entertainment in the pub. Would not hesitate to stay again.
“Castle Hotel with the Black Suff”
Everything went according to plan. The Hotel was well situated (i am a fan of James Joyce). The rooms were clean and spacious, the staff were extremely friendly and the breakfast was excellent. The only concern was the need to update some areas, like bathrooms and breakfast room. Its a shame to have the tradtional Georgian look and then find 60's interior. Overall a nice hotel and I would use it again.
“Cheap and Reasonable place for a city break”
Located North of the River next to Parnell Square it is a short bus (there are plenty running from just outside the hotel) or 20 minute walk into the city centre. This does have the benefit of being a lot quieter than the say Temple Bar area. The Hotel was clean and well run, the staff were very helpful and friendly, though the building itself could use a bit of modernisation. The hotel has a little bar underneath which was host to some live music. Its quite a cosy place to get a drink, and some food. There was free internet access via wifi in the hotel ask at reception for the access code. Food at the hotel was tasty if a little expensive. The included breakfast was nice though and good value, though got repetitive after a few days. As it is a big hotel so gets very busy at breakfast time.
“Ideal location”
The hotel was in a good location and having it's own car park was a bonus.
“Perfect Dublin Weekender”
Great location just off O'Connell Street. Lovely breakfast with friendly staff. Georgian splendour. Would use again for a weekend.
“satisfied”
The hotel was comfortable although the place could do with some maintainance. Breakfast was a busy time and a notice did say to avoid the rush go early but who wants to get up early on holiday. Disappointed with the advertised music sessions. Classical music does not sound good on an untuned piano & the traditional musicians left a lot to be desired. I would have thought a hotel of that size would be able to afford better. It was in a good location though for the centre of town so didn't have to spend to much time there. Staff were really friendly & helpful they always had a welcome smile & a friendly word
“Reception staff - Smile Please!”
It was really nice to be greeted by the hotel owner but some of the reception staff needed some more indepth customer services skills; one individual's face looked like it was tripping her!! I was a bit bemused at the lack of understanding of English from the 2 foreign waiting staff in the dining room....I asked a simple question and the girls had no idea what I was on about which was rather frustrating. Apart from that, the hotel was really nice, had character and in a really good location and I would use it again!
