This Sofitel is relatively new, we know - we watched it being built down the road from our home. We were excited to try it out and it is as impressive as it looks on the outside. It is stands out from other hotels in Dubai with its individual French Polynesian style. The staff are wonderfully welcoming and always have smiles. And the layout of the hotel is fantastic for everyone, from a family with children, to a couple wanting privacy, to groups travelling together; the hotel rooms and villas are set out in clusters giving you the amount of privacy or exposure that you require as a holiday maker...we really liked that about the hotel!
Our only complaint would be the condition of the rooms for such a new hotel. We understand this has more to do with the treatment by other hotel patrons than the standard of the hotel - it is easy to see, people do not care or respect property when it is not their own. Nevertheless, it was a little disappointing that the upholstery items such as sofas and seat cushions were stained and dirty.
Overall though, a very nice experience.

I had a choice between this and the Citimax Al Barsha hotel near the Emirates Mall and I picked this as this seems to be closer to the Metro station. And yes it is much closer as it's only a few minutes, clearly road-marked walk from the hotel, as opposed to Citymax which is a 1km walk to the nearest Metro station.
Everything is great, from rooms to staff but the atmosphere is a bit dull for a place selling as a 4 star hotel. I didn't stay in the hotel much so it didn't matter to me. If it's within the area and the budget you are looking for, look no further.
This was a great find. Very centrally located, right next to the Mall of the Emirates and 2 Metro stations. I had serious trouble with my luggage on Emirates Airlines, and the hotel staff were all over it and calling the airline several times a day pushing them to deliver it to the hotel, which eventually happened after 3 days.
My room was large and comfortable as was the bathroom. There is a full bath with a bathtub and a half bath for your guests. The kitchen is equipped and the items that were outstanding the room service staff brought to me including wine glasses and a wine opener. The location was a little hard to find, but its opposite to the Holiday in which is on the main street and easy to find. The wifi was free and adequate although on the websites it says that there is an additional charge.
I recommend the fatoosh salad as a side salad if you are dining in. It has great flavor. And Bethel, a staff member was very helpful and kind ask for her.
The metro is a 5 minute walk and although there are other shops around the hotel, I didn't get a chance to look around. One metro stop away is the mall of the Emirates that has inside a full grocery store called Carrefour in case you want to bring back anything to your hotel.
Hitel staff go that extra mile to serve you with more than a smile . Early check-in , slightly later check out .
Rooms and facilities look tired though clean and very comfortable
Food is fair though not outstanding .
Proximity to Emirates Mall and metro and close to Sheikh Zayed Road are hugh pluses .
Excellent for a quiet unfussed business trip
