The area around Drogheda, on the banks of the River Boyne, has been settled for millennia and the town itself has existed since at least Norman times. Often the scene of major battles over the centuries, it is now best known for its thriving cultural scene. As well as the many theatres and galleries, Drogheda hosts an annual, week-long samba festival and the world's longest running graffiti event.
