Ireland Accommodation

The Radisson Blu is a lovely hotel about ten or fifteen mins drive from Cork city centre. We knew this when we were booking it so it wasn't an issue. The train station into the city is about a 10 min walk from the hotel (the longest part of the walk is from the main reception to the top of the avenue!). It also has a free car park if you wanted to leave a car there over night which we did. It costs €2.40 each way on the train but we found that the train station (Cork, Kent) is a good bit from the centre of town so ended up hopping in a taxi anyway so it cost us about €15 with the train & taxi and it would have been €18 or €20 direct from the hotel into the city! There may have been shuttle buses into the centre from the train station but it was a bank holiday Sun when we were there and we didn't see any. The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, especially on Reception and our room was spotless and very comfortable with a massive bed. Our only complaint was the heat in the room, but most hotel rooms tend to be very warm so we just opened the windows. The rooms had all the normal mod cons with a little fridge, tea/coffee facilities, a decent TV, safe, etc. We didn't eat in the hotel so I can't comment on the food. The pool area was lovely with fabulous massage seats and jets, bubble seats and powerful waterfalls, sauna and steam room. The changing rooms had lockers, large private showers and hairdryers which was great. I'd highly recommend it.
