“Small hotel - gem”
If you're looking for a big sterile chain hotel, this isn't for you. This hotel is full of character and charm and the staff were just brilliant. They were all very friendly and hospitable. The rooms are standard European sizes, clean, newly decorated and comfortable. The restaurant looks beautiful, but didn't eat in there so can't comment on the food. I loved my stay there and would recommend to anyone planning a trip to Beaune.
“Great hotel, lots of character”
A friend and I enjoyed a fantastic stay at the Abbaye de Maizieres in Beaune. It was a charming little hotel with lots of character. Our room appeared to have been recently renovated and was very clean. The location of the hotel was great and it was just a short walk to the main streets were there were lots restaurants and boutiques. The hotel staff were extremely courteous and knowledgable about the area. We were only supposed to stay two nights before heading to Dijon, but decided to stay an extra night at the Abbaye instead. I would definitely recommend the Abbaye de Maizieres to a friend and would stay there again if I ever return to Beaune. However, I wouldn't recommend this hotel for anyone with limited mobility. There are a lot of stairs (which add to the charm of this 12th century building), but there is no elevator for people who may have difficulty with them.
“very pleasant”
This hotel has gotten a bad rap in other reivews. The only real negative is the stairway to upper floors, which is not unusual in older European hotels. The restaurant is very pleasant and the food is excellent.
“Resturant is superb.”
Be prepared to walk up narrow sprial staircase. This gave great atmosphere but if you at all unsteady in climbing this type of stair with bags you may not want to stay here.
“Be ready for an original stay !”
Staying in a 12th century abbey requires some flexibility. Stairs are too narrow to bring your suitcase up, so just leave them at the reception and take just what you need! Staff is most helpful, and we got treated to a very nice bottle of wine on the morning of our departure! So overall, a place for the adventurous wonderfully located in the center of Beaune
“ok hotel”
If you want a place to stay for the night, it is ok, the location is good, it is quiet, but nothing special... it is not cheap as well! It is very a very standard hotel, nothing bad, nothing outstanding...
