“Excellent Service - Super Hotel Staff”
The Hotel Otelinn's rooms are basic, not luxurious but comfortable and clean. Two things set this hotel apart: the excellent staff and an excellent restaurant. We arrived late our first night, after the dinner service had ended. When we asked about options, the desk clerk suggested a snack of "crudites" might be possible. 10 minutes later we were served an enormous plate of salads, pates, and cold meats which was among the best food we'd had in Eruope. Breakfasts were generous and evening meals very well prepared and elegantly served. All the staff - from front desk to housekeeping to the restaurant staff - were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. I was very impressed with this level of service in an inexpensive business-traveler-oriented motel.
“Excellent”
Stayed at hotel while motorcycle touring around Normandy, staff were very friendly and helpful, rooms were clean and tidy. Ate in restaurant in evening and was better than average. Compared to other hotels in this price range we stayed at during our trip, including well known chains, we were impressed with the value for money, would definitely go back if in this area again, recommended.
“cheapish and convenient for site seeing”
Situated out of the city centre near the War Memorial (well worth the visit, allow 4hrs) and close to the outer ring road giving easy access to the Normandy beaches.The hotel is a bit tired, the room small with no where to sit other than on the bed because a third bed occupied avaiable space.Car parking was available on site. Breakfast menu was continental and uninspiring but there was no limit to what you had. Staff spoke English and were friendly.
“Good value for price”
We booked at the last minute, but we found that the hotel was clean and relativly modern. The rooms were small, but it was a pleasant surprise for just a two star rating. It was very easy to find just off the Caen beltway. The clerks were helpful and even provided us with direction to various attractions. The breakfast buffet was extra, but was a good value. The dinner at the restaurant was fair, but the staff reccomendation for a restaurant in downtown Caen was excellent.
“A bit too isolated.”
Hotel was clean. Location to city center was the only drawback. No restaurants close by. Unless you've got a rental car, transportation is problematic. Pretty much your basic travel lodge.
“Hotel to avoid”
Situated in a grim, poor and further away than claimed from the Haga Sophia with a heating system problem so smelling of diesel within the hotel which was not pleasant. Breakfasts were average and there was no dinner avaialable at the hotel meaning that you had to go out and find a local restaurant. In fact there was only one local one which, despite being in a dodgy area, was adequate, not satisfactory. Would not recommend hotel.
“To Avoid”
I would not recommend this hotel. Difficult to find the hotel. The bed was terribly uncomfortable with a very thin mattress. The breakfast (not included with Expedia) was very limited. Best part of the hotel: free wireless internet
“Never Stay Here”
We were very dissapointed with this hotel from the minute we checked in. We reserved a double non smoking room and even called ahead to confirm. When we arrived the room was not ready. When we were allowed in the room we discovered to our horror 2 twin beds and the worst smell of smoke we have ever experienced. The food was alright and the night staff was very nice and tried to be accomadating. This hotel is very far from the city. It is over an hour walk to the main train/busses. It costs over 20E to get there by taxi and the bus stop is very far from the hotel entrance. We rented a car and were charged 175E from Budget in order to get to Normandy.
