“Excellent hotel”
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff, superb food, but many steps might make it difficult for those people with mobility problems.
“Great hotel with fantastic views....”
This hotel is set right into the rocks overlooking the sea, with stunning uninterrupted views and its own beach. It is well planned, set over many different levels and with several pools of varying sizes dotted around, so you can always find somewhere to yourself and you dont feel like youre fighting for space with other guests. The rooms were nothing spectacular but a good size with traditional decor - what youd expect from a beach resort. We only stayed for 3 days at the beginning of July and it was fairly quiet with plenty of sun lounges for everyone but I can imagine it may feel more crowded in high season. It is a 5-10 min walk to Baia Sardinia centre which has some restaurants, bars and shops and another beach. It is very relaxed and very family friendly so for a young couple like us, it was fairly limited in terms of nightlife and good restaurants. A car is definitely needed if you want to explore the island. Porto Cervo is about 15 - 20 min drive away. It is worth visiting even if you just want to marvel at the yachts in the marina but more so if you want great restaurants that serve more than pizza and pasta and stylish bars, not forgetting the designer shops. Yes it may be expensive (ridiculously overpriced at times) but thats the case with many similar luxury resorts. If you like that scene though its definitely worth it, although we certainly enjoyed staying in Baia Sardinia to get the best of both worlds.
“Wonderful!”
Beautiful property. Excellently landscaped grounds. Nice rooms with excellent views (sea view room type). Beautiful swimming pools and excellent cove swimming. Workout room is a joke. Close proximity to a quaint village with some excellent restaurants. Hotel is a bit pricey.
“Great Hotel”
Great location, layout of hotel is fantastic, with seven pools there are plenty of quiet spots to retreat to. Staff was great. Hotel was better than I expected..can't wait to stay again.
“Really relaxing hotel”
Although Baia Sardinia was quite a small resort with only handful of restaurants and bars, it was a really relaxing place and our stay at the Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach was lovely. The hotel is in a gorgeous location with beautiful sea views, the pool and beach area were well designed (not all sat around one big pool looking at each other) and the staff were really friendly and helpful. I would happily go back.
“Great Location !”
Fantastic hotel, great location & a beautiful Island. Just spent 8 nights at the Grand Smeraldo Beach Hotel and was very satisfied. The grounds of the hotel just go on & on ! There are swimming pools everywhere & it has it's own private beach. The only complaint we have about the hotel is that they have deck chairs on the beach and sunbeds around the pools & they will not allow you to move the sunbeds to the beach as we tried it & got told off & it is incredibly uncormfortable laying on there sand! Sardinia is quite pricey, eating out for dinner was costing a good 40-50 euros for the 2 of us & a bottle of local beer was around 4.50 euro. Cocktails can cost between 7 & 9 euros. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
“Lovely Hotel in Great Location”
Lovely Hotel very quaint and full of character. Only complaint I have is that the breakfast was very limited and the bed extremely hard! Had back ache all week which spoilt things a bit. Location is superb and view from hotel balcony was gorgeous. The weather was great all week and we travelled round the various ports/beaches which were lovely although every where was quite deserted for the beginning of September. Porto Cervo was extremely expensive - 18 euros for 2 coffees!!! On the whole I would recommend the hotel and Costa Smeraldo area as it is very beautiful although expensive.
“Excellent destination”
The hotel is under 10 minutes walk from Baia Sardinia. The grounds are beautiful (far more impressive than the pictures), with six swimming pools, plenty of sun loungers, a private beach and other coves where you could swim in the sea. The rooms are simple but clean - an improvement would be to put safes in the rooms. The staff were very friendly and spoke excellent English. We were half board and although we did not eat in the restaurant every night adding the evening meals was worthwhile. Each night there was a four course menu, limited choice but very good quality. There are some good restaurants in Baia Sardinia. Sardinia is beautiful but there is a limited amount to do - you really need a hire car if you want to do more than laze by the pool/beach each day.
“Would definitely go back”
The hotel's location was excellent, with it's own small beach and cove, ideal for snorkelling. Lovely clear blue sea, small sand beaches. 7 swimming pools of varying sizes. Beautiful views from the terrace across the sea - lovely sunsets. Staff unobtrusive, and tried to help when asked. Nice calm atmosphere. The rooms were clean and comfortable, in a Sardinian rustic style. Buffet breakfast was fine. Evening meals were rather 1970's dinner party , and we swopped our half board for lunch, which was much better - buffet salad bar starter, pasta, meat or fish, fruit and dessert. Nothing in the way of entertainment apart from a saxophonist accompanying a cd. Baiaa Sardinia, the nearest village, a short 10 minute walk away - good for pasta, pizza, ice-cream and people watching. Supermarket, post office and internet cafe through the village and up the hill. No wi-fi at the hotel, but you can use their internet e1.50 per 5 minutes. The Costa Smeralda is the equivalent to St Tropez in France, so quite expensive. We went as a family of four and had a fabulous time.
“nice hotel”
definitely go in either June or september - they are the besy months for Baia Sardinia!
