“will be back again”
very well located amazing value for money
“Excellent”
This hotel was really beautiful, clean and the staff were extremely helpful. It is also ideally located for shopping, sightseeing, railway station and the cathedral. The only downside at all was the cost of hotel restaurant but plenty of places in Cologne for coffees and meals. The mini bar in the room is also free and topped up everyday. I would definately stay here again and recommend it to anyone who appreciates alittle luxury and convenience.
“Wonderful hotel, perfect location”
This was a beautiful hotel for both business and pleasure. Located immediately next to the Dom Cathedral and the train station, it was in the perfect spot. The service was impeccable from the friendly greetings at the front door to the quick response when a light went out in our room. Internet access was not great, but not unusual for Europe. I suggest signing up for the wireless plan, but it wasn't very strong. If you go - try to spend some time in the fitness center / spa. The steam room is wonderful!
“Beautiful Hotel in Perfect Location”
This hotel was delightful. The staff were great from the minute we arrived. The room was spacious and beautifully appointed. The location was perfect for us. The hotel is directly across from the Cathedral and the Roman/ German Museum. It is convenient to Old Town and restaurants as well as the train station.
“5 well deserved stars”
This hotel was the most exdpensive when we were looking,however, the reviews we read and the hotel description suggested that it would be worth it and we were correct. The staff are ALL friendly, helpfull and courteous without being "over the top". The accomodation cannot be faulted with an excellent breakfast buffet along with eggs as you wish them to be served. When we return to Cologne we will be considering this hotel as a first option. One negative,a change of pillow request,which was offered by the hotel, was sorted for one of our group of two couples but ignored for the other two. A minor hiccup and I could not begin to list all of the positives I am happy to leave the ratings as they are.
“Highlight of our trip”
My son and I spent one week visiting three cities in Germany. Our first stop was Cologne. I must say that of all the hotels we stayed in .. this was far the best. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally large, well appointed and very comfortable. From a location standpoint, it was close to all the activities we had scheduled for our visit. I can only identify one minor issue and that was being on a busy street, traffic noise was sometimes a distraction. We had a wonderful stay and we would definitely recommend the hotel to others as well as stay there again.
“Hard to leave”
Large but cosy room was tempting and competed with the city as an enjoyable place to spend time. Location couldn't have been more convenient. This is an old grand-hotel style place with plenty of class. Huge, luxurious bath was a plus. Loved the mini-bar included in room price. A bit overly warm in summer without air conditioning, but a first-rate experience in all other respects.
“Fantastic Hotel”
Stay at this hotel! Fantastic location next to the Cathedral, good for the shops and the xmas markets. We highly recommend the hotel, we were so well looked after, the staff were friendly, helpful and the rooms were immaculate even our beds were turned down for the evening, bath robes and slippers provided, a small spa and a free mini bar - what more can you ask for and we would go back again. I have never written a review before and have used expedia for the last 7 years for different trips but felt this hotel deserved one.
“Best Hotel in Cologne”
Excelsior Hotel Ernst is one of the most beautiful European hotels located on the square along the beautiful Dom Cathedral of Cologne. The rooms are beautiful. Entry ways with two sets of doors cut down on noise. Beautiful furniture - satinwood and inlaid desks, chests, etc. and comfortable chairs and sofas. Room service was prompt and excellent. We order breakfast and a wonderful dinner with desserts - all well-prepared. The staff was superb. All inquiries were handled promptly and politely. I cannot wait to return.
“Cologne's Superior Hotel”
This hotel is all you expect in a 5 star establishment. The location is the best. This stay was our second stay at the hotel
