“Super Location”
Just returned from a beautiful week of skiing in The Three Vallee's! La Hameau du Mottaret is in a superb location to access any of the resorts in the Three Vallee's. Ski in, Ski Out made it convenient to get out early in the morning as well as get ourselves home in the afternoon. One minute walk to a shop for your morning pastery or bread is only an added bonus! Great bus service into Meribel village thats accessible almost on the doorstep!
“Would stay again.”
Great location - not just for ski in and ski out (off the Furet piste) but also for: free bus to Meribel stop just outside, cable car down to Mottaret town just outside, a decent bar (which is quite busy in the apres ski hours) with pool tables, local shop and restaurants (booking advised as they are popular with people who stay here) nearby and even a caisse to pick up lift passes from down in reception. We stayed in studio for 4 - fine for the two of us, although 4 people would find it very cramped. Beware of expensive extras - I mean 40 euros for a telly for the week is a bit ridiculous - I would advise taking your own towels and even bedsheets and cleaning stuff unless you want to incur further charges. Having said all that - would definitely stay again - all the plus points mean that it represents good value for your money overall, and if you plan your skiing to have your dinner break at Odalys - you save a fortune on expensive mountain restaurant meals.
“I LOVE MOTTARET”
THIS THE THIRD TIME I WENT TO THIS PLACE I HOPE ONLY MORE WARM PEOPLE IN THE BAR AND IN THE RECEPTION IN GENERAL WE REALLY ENJOY THE PLACE
“On the slopes”
Simple and v warm, with a cosy bar built around a fireplace (with decent wi-fi). Cool and friendly characters. Hotel has probably one of the most inexplicable elevator designs.. And it's no exaggeration you're practically on the slopes- put your skis on and just swoop out the back yard..
“Great for ski-in/out - a little removed from the centre of Meribel though”
Our studio apartment for 4 was clean with ample space. There was only 2 of us so the space was perfect. It would be a little tight if you have 4 ppl. The Altibus stops right in front of the main Odalys building (Altibus stop name is Le Hameau) so if you're coming from Moutiers station, it will be an easy transfer. Bus ride takes about an hour. We stayed in the Le Dandy block of apartments which was right next to a lift that takes you down to the centre of Meribel Mottaret. Meribel Mottaret is in the higher part of Meribel. Not much happens in Mottaret but if you're not into the party atmosphere, then this will suit you fine. Apartment was spacious and pleasant enough to eat in if you can't be bothered getting the bus to/from Meribel or Mottaret. Would recommend this place to anyone.
“Brilliantly positioned, adequately equipped.”
This is the fourth time we have stayed at the Hameau. The apartments have always looked a little worn and bare but if you're there to ski their position can hardly be beaten, right on the Furet piste. Mottaret is in the centre of the Three Valleys so getting to most parts of the skiing area involves only one lift. As long as your expectations are realistic the apartments are adequately equipped. But if you're looking for the Ritz you have to look elsewhere,
“Basic but served its purpose”
We (group of 4 adults) have just returned from a weeks stay at the Odalys. The aprtment was very small and basic and although we had requested a twin room we ended up with a bunk bed and single bed in one room and the sofa bed which myself and my husband turned into a bed on the floor. There was no kettle and the cups were not suitable for a cup of tea if you like an espresso coffee then great but if you like a nice cup of tea in the morning then i recommend you take your own cups. There wasn't much nearby so if you don't mind not going out then this is well suited to you. There is a cable car to Mottaret town but again not much there and a free bus which takes you to Meribel town where there are more bars/pubs/restaurants. However we were right next to the slope, 2 minutes away and the view from the window was lovely. If you hire a car then i recommend you pay and park it underground as we saw many people digging there cars out due to heavy snowfall. Overall the apartment served it's purpose although it was a little cramped with 4 adults.
“Fine if you set your expectations”
This is the second time we've stayed at Hameau du Mottaret. The apartments are brilliantly located on the edge of the Furet piste, making them truly ski in/ ski out. The apartments, though adequately equipped, are fairly basic and they are now looking a little tired and in need of some refurbishment. But if you're there to ski that's less of an issue because you just want to get something to eat and get to sleep in the evenings. Would still go back next year.
“Cheap and chearful!!”
The hotel is very well located on the piste - but away from the social centre. The hotel is a low budget hotel with small rooms. Our five bed apartment was 3 small bunk beds in one room and two pullout beds in the sitting room.
