“Great hotel in a great location!”
This is an excellent hotel! And it's in a great location on Via Etnea. There are tons of little panetterias around (Spinella was my favorite) if you are interested in tasting the local specialties. And for those that want something a little more familiar, there's even a McDonald's about a block away, on Piazza Stesicoro. If you want to go shopping, you can just walk down Via Etnea. And there's a great department store right across the street. The room was a bit small, but it's par for the course. The bed was great! It was very comfortable. The staff was pleasant and very helpful. I had some trouble with the Internet connection in my room, and they sent someone right up to take care of it. There's a nice little fitness room in the hotel. The bar on the top floor offers excellent views.
“A real find!”
This is an amazing place. Just off the main drag, but were quiet, cool and calm. It is very chic, lots of cut stone and white walls. The 7th floor cocktail bar offers fantastic views of Etna, but do not go for the cocktails, they are week and disapointing, ask for a regular drink (bloody Mary, Aperitif) and they are fantastic. Breakfast is an amazing spread and sets you up for a day sight seeing.
“excellent location for all the sights and sounds of Catania”
The hotel is roughly 15 - 20 mins by taxi from Catania airport. The route the taxi takes goes by the main touristy parts of the city so by the time you arrive at your hotel you should have a basic understanding of your surrounding area. The hotel itself is very clean and bright and the staff are extreamly helpful and friendly. You are not pushed to have your meals at the hotel and the reception staff will recommend some fairly good places to eat. But their recommendations will only apply to Catania itself. Unfortunately we found the best Restaurants outside the city. The breakfast buffet is very basic but does the job and will see you through to lunch. The bar area is on the roof of the hotel and after a hard and hot day of sightseeing it is the perfect retreat to relax and admire the slendor of Mount Etna. Whilst in catania you must visit the daily market which is about a five minute stroll from the hotel, even if you dont want to buy anything you have to expeirience the smells and sounds and believe me you would be hard pressed not to grab a bargain.
“High quality of service in the centre of Catania”
Situated in the heart of the city and quite convenientely on the shopping street, Una Hotel Palace was an excellent choice for us. We have enjoyed the service, especially the rich sweet and savory breakfast, the courtesy of the employees and the gorgeous Sicilian almond pastry on our pillow every night. The main road leading to the hotel is pedestrians only and there is the possibility of parking both in an open car park managed by the hotel (for 20 euros a day) or in a pay and park area nearby (1 euro per hour from 8 am to 8 pm and then an "off the book" man who will guard your car throughout the night for a little tip, apparently this is the costum in Sicily). Our room, although quite small, was clean and comfortable with a bathroom provided with sample of toiletteries. We definitely reccomend this hotel for business and leisure especially for its central and safe position.
“Cocktails on the Roof”
Good four star hotel, well positioned in the middle of town within walking distance of all the sights. The bus from the airport runs along the Via Etnea outside the hotel. We were upgraded to a slightly larger room at check in. Generous breakfast buffet. Reception staff helpful: happy to book tours etc. The clincher is the rooftop bar with views of Mt Etna. Drinks come with a complimentary antipasto buffet. If I have a criticism, it is that the bed and chairs in the room were quite firm.
“Ideal location”
The hotel is large and comfortable. The room was excellent; only the bed was rather too firm. The view from the rooftop terrace is great. The relatively minor problems we experienced are: internet slow and expensive; breakfast good, but they don’t replace things (such as the mozzarella cheese) when they run out, so you have to go early. A pity the Etna trip was repeatedly cancelled due to poor weather. The range of excursions available from the hotel is limited. The yellow sightseeing bus available at the Cathedral (hop on type) is good value at only 5 euros. The airport bus leaves from opposite the hotel every 20 minutes and costs just 1 euro (the hotel charges 30 euros for taxi pick-up). Walking to the station takes about 20 minutes and is not very pleasant. There are plenty of buses but you have to buy tickets from a booth in advance.
“Fabulous Hotel in Cataina”
A splendid hotel with in the centre of Cataina's main street - Via Etnea. Staff from porters to manager are all incredibly friendly and speak good English in case your Italian is as aweful as mine! Definitely worth its 4 star rating.
“Definitely one of the best hotels in Catania”
Even before we got off the plane, we had been told by two people that the Una Palace was a great choice, being one of the best hotels in Catania. (who said you shouldn't talk to strangers?) The views from the 7th floor bar and restaurant are amazing (worth waiting 3 days for the cloud to lift). Hotel staff helpful, as far as their limited command of English allowed (no complaints though -given our complete lack of Italian). In particular, we found the bar staff on the top floor to be very friendly and helpful - especially given that we were only there for a long weekend. We only used the in-house restaurant for dinner once and found it to be very high quality with excellent service. (breakfast offered more than adequate choice too.) Our only complaint was that the room was far too warm. This was mainly due to the time of year (February). To be fair, they did open the windows for us during the day and close them again at night in an attempt to make us more comfortable but what we really needed was the air conditioning switched on. As it was their winter, the locals were wrapped up in coats, scarves and hats while we were happy in jeans and T shirts. Being winter, the air conditioning throughout the hotel was turned off, making the whole place seem very warm indeed. So, winter travellers - be warned.
“great hotel in gret location”
the hotel was fantastic well presented and a very pleasent place the staff was excpectional esp daniel
“Nice Hotel, centrally located, helpful staff”
The hotel is a modern, very nice hotel. Highly recomended. The room was large, Internet connection was good, breakfast was great, and the staff was extremely helpful, curteous.
