“Good Choice”
Excellent hotel -very nice room, great price. A little difficult to find: but so are most of the hotels in Catania!
“great experience”
great hotel with great staff, minutes away from the downtown action of Catania. Fantastic restaurants all within walking distance. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the city itself. Unclean, covered with graffiti, traffic a total disaster, traffic lights and stop signs don't mean much. As far as the hotel is concerned we were more than happy.
“Home from home”
Liberty hotel was a very centrally placed hotel with all the tourist sights within walking diatance.the rooms were very comfortable and the staff ever so willing and warm./Francesca and Francesco recommended the most amazing reataurants for dinner. They are so knowledgeable. Will go back again sometime
“Top grade hotel and service in a degraded city”
This is not a review of Catania but you cannot review the hotel without considering the city. It has been called the most degraded city in Europe after formerly being compared with Milan. It is shocking how filthy and generally run down it appears. It does grow on you though although it can feel threatening especially if you are on your own. The hotel by contrast is worthy of five stars for it's standards. Its location like all the hotels in Catania is unhappy especially if you wish to use public transport The main coach/bus station and train station is a good 25 minute walk away. Taxis are a poor option as they get stuck in the seemingly perpetual traffic jams of the city. We never fathomed the local buses. Do though stay at this hotel for a few days and enjoy the staff and rooms. They were keen to look up times of trains and coaches and print off the results for you. Maps are garishly coloured in with highlighters to aid your route to restaurants and the sights. No food available after breakfast is an omission that is hard to rectify within the space constraints. Catanians do not eat until well after 8pm and restaurants do not operate until after then; they are all some distance away from the hotel. We loved the hotel and staff but have a more equivocal relationship with the city.
“Catania, Sicily”
Amazing hotel, absolutely beautiful building, immaculately presented. Staff are wonderful, exceptionally helpful and friendly, and speak good english, which can be useful with a limited Italian vocabulary! The town iself is lovely, plenty to see and do, whether you want to be a tourist or make you own way around. Little run-down in places, and a bit of a graffiti problem all over town, but all of the main areas are perfectly fine, just like any other town really, good areas and slightly dodgy looking ones, just use your initiative! Also, as we found out, it's virtually impossible to have a bad meal anywhere, so take a chance on any restaurant you see. Would definitely recommend an excursion up Mt. Etna, truly awe-inspiring, and tantalisingly visible from the middle of town, which is not something you get everywhere. Constantly active as well, which is slighlty unnerving initially... With regards to beaches, there are some tourist lidos which are fine, if a little over-priced and very touristy, but for a proper local experience, take a 20 minute bus ride up the coast to Acitrezza and Acicastello, two beautiful lava sand beaches which are a little less comfortable than the lidos, but the swimming is better and it's not so artificial. Plus, there's some amazing volcanic scenery to be had. I'd go back tomorrow, if I could...
“Catania - Liberty Hotel”
Really nice place, staff were great and peaceful place to rest. Would go back again.
“Friendly Hotel”
Please note that some rooms are fitted only with showers
“Great Hotel”
What a great hotel in a superb location. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff extremely helpful. It's situated in an ideal location to get around Catania. Will be going back to Catania and staying at this hotel.
“Best hotel I've stayed in”
Catania's Liberty Hotel is absolutely fabulous. The staff treated us like royalty and our room was exceptionally well appointed and comfortable. The "Liberty" decor was gorgeous. I've stayed in a lot of hotels around the world and this one was BY FAR the best.
“Nice, small hotel”
Nice, small, quiet.
