“excellent value for money”
hotel is a little way away from town centre but a free shuttle servis is on offer or by car its not far either. We had a few issues with some of the staff at reception who seemed to be on training and who gave out misleading information on Table Mountain. Otherwise excellent hotel and unbeatable price!
“hidden urban style”
An odd location, set in a regenerated textile industry area seemingly away from the sights, but a free shuttle or $12 taxi takes you to the centre or V&A Waterfront in 20 minutes. Great size and quality rooms, beds, bathroom etc. Very stylish modern boutique dining and bar area, substantial buffet breakfast with full range of foodstuffs. Even has a few alternative eateries in the mini-shopping centre in the base of the shared building. Great value for money, ideal for overnight while in-transit.
“Quality oasis of calm close to the airport”
The area may be run down but the hotel and complex are modern, bright, clean, comfortable and safe. The staff are exceptionally helpful and keen to please - we received some of the best service of the holiday at Upper East Side and used their free Waterfront shuttle bus. Unfortunately we only stayed one night - after checking in, we dropped off our hire car, walked to the Waterfront, caught the shuttle back and left in a taxi for the airport the next morning (journey time 10 minutes and only R180 as light traffic). We would use this hotel again.
“Worth every penny”
Customer service is amazing..... The hotel is 5 minutes away from the city, the only thing is the hotel is surrounded by factory (linens, shoes, clothes) store (a + if you like shopping, not for me). A little too crowded in the morning and afternoon but its a safe area.... Breakfast is ok, they need to work on their menu to at least change some of their food (same food everyday (i stayed for 6 days) Overall, will stay at the same hotel if i go back to cape town will just have to figure out a place for breakfast :)
“Great first night in Cape Town”
I booked this hotel for our first night in Cape Town. Our flight arrived at 11 PM and we did not want to stay out near the airport, but did not want to struggle on our first night trying to navigate through the city to find our hotel. The Upper East Side was a perfect solution - easy 15 minute drive from the airport, easy and reasonable parking, lovely bar and restaurant for a nightcap and breakfast, then a 10 minute drive to central Cape Town after a refreshing rest. The service was friendly and professional and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is somewhat remote from the city centre - not easily walkable - and the surrounding area is not equipped for tourists but the hotel itself offers all you need to settle in at night and to get you going in the morning. If you have a car it is easy and quick to get into the centre of town. There is a shuttle to the V&A waterfront but you need to plan your day if you intend to use it because it is not frequent.
“Was not iprssed”
The reception welcome was very poor. The first roo was smelling then was moved to other room. If they may improve on those. I wouldnt mind trying them again.
