“Best place to stay in Cannes”
Perfect location - right at the end of Blvd La Croisette accross from the Old Port. magnificent views of the Port and the city. Walk to Blvd La Croisette, Palace of Festivals, dining, etc. The only word of caution - hotel parking is 35 euro/day. We found public parking within 5 min of walking for 17.50 euro/day.
“Best Hotel in Cannes!”
I've visited this hotel many times, and the service is always the same - "first class". Add to that a restaurant on the 7th floor with excellent food and fabulous views of the bay, and the result is a good value hotel in Cannes.
“Excellent ... as always”
Short and sweet - this hotel is excellent, and good value too. Swimming pool on the roof is superb. Rooms are smallish, but the beds are the most comfortable i have ever slept in!! Only ate breakfast in the hotel - 25 euros, and good value for it - so can't comment too much on the food, but overall, hotel is highly recommended.
“Great location”
The hotel is in the best location imaginable for restaurants, shops and the beach. The staff is freindly and helpful. And, as always with Sofitel, the beds are extremely comfortable.
“Excellent hotel, recommended”
October business trip, trade show at the Palais. The White Palm is a 5 minute walk from the old town restaurants up the hill, and a 10 minute walk from the Palais. The only unusual thing about the hotel is that it is the opposite direction [west] of the Palais from all the main hotels on the quai, towards the Carlton [east] where most people stay. I am unable to comment on the standard room I booked, as it was unavailable, but the hotel upgraded me to a suite that was breath-taking with views of the sea and the harbor. The suite obviously influenced my opinion, but the experience was fabulous and I did not want to leave at week-end. Have staying in Cannes at 10 different "main" hotels over the years. Will return to the White Palm next year.
“Would recommend”
Ideal location, lovely views out over Cannes, service very good and clean! Could not eat in the restaurant however as they did not, and would not, serve vegetarian food. But otherwise not disappointed!
“Great Hotel!”
Very disappointed the hotel charge residents €25 per half day for use of the pool - this didn't apply last year. In July and August, you cannot use the pool unless you have a treatment - the one offered to me was €80. There is no mention of this in the hotel description. My room overlooked the Rue de Port, and every night between 2am and 6am there was a very noisy laundry collection/delivery - the entrance was just below my window. Also one night there was a waste collection for the houses nearby - this was at 3am. Despite these negatives, the hotel is fantastic (I'm pleased they've reverted to a buffet breakfast) - good location for restaurants/beach/shops. Will definitely go again!
“Great location”
We were a little apprehensive after reading earlier reviews but pleasantly surprised. The room was small, but perfectly clean and pleasant, even though some of the fittings may not have been 'state of the art' (finding somewhere to plug in the kettle was a challenge...). We did not eat in the hotel (who would waste their money?) but found some excellent, very reasonably priced restaurants very nearby. The beach across the road was lovely and, by the way, the hotel only charges for sunbeds in high season. We will definitely stay at this hotel again, despite the building site next door (which was not a problem), as the location was ideal.
“excellent view, depending on the boat show!”
we have recently returned from 10 days at the sofitel Cannes Le mediterranee. I was a little anxious given some of the previous reviews, but the hotel was in the area we wanted to be. The room we had was a good size, overlooked the sea and had a balcony, which was excellent. The state of the room was poor given the star rating of the hotel, there were scuff marks and paint peeling, so it does require some redecorating, however the service of the room was excellent!we thought the breakfast was too expensive so ate out at local cafes, so much nicer. At the time of the visit, there was a boat show in the harbour just outside the hotel, which had a huge impact on the area, fumes from the additional traffic, noise from the visitors and sales personnel. as we were leaving, the show was being dismantled and you had a better idea of how the area would have been. this is also the area where you would get a boat to the islands off the coast so there were loads of tourist coaches parking very close to the hotel adding to the noise and pollution. Having said all this, it was a good holiday and we enjoyed our stay in Cannes. the area of Le souquet seems more interesting and buzzy with lots of little streets and cafes/shops than along the croisette.
“Good location but very average room and service”
The hotel is in an excellent position in Cannes and well situated for the town and beach. The room was disappointing, being very small for two people with a poor standard of decoration. Several items were not working correctly and took sometime to repair. The room was clean enough, but we had to constantly remind staff to provide coffee, towels etc. We ate once in the ground floor retaurant and the service was very poor. The staff at reception were excellent.
