“Exactly what we wanted”
The hotel was exactly as described. We wanted a quiet, well provisioned hotel within easy walking distance of beach and bar - and that is what we got. The hotel is positioned away from the main bustle of Cannes but well within a 10 minute walk along the sea side promenade. The stroll into the main shopping and central area is very relaxed and the way is lined with cafes and restaurants which allows a nice way to relax and watch the world go by. The service was excellent too, all of the staff were helpful and courteous (even when we rolled in and wanted a late nightcap). I cant really fault it for a quiet weekend away and we will most certainly go back.
“Would Stay Again”
I was pleasantly surprised with my stay after reading some of the negative comments. I enjoyed my stay, loved the neighborhood and was within walking distance of everything I wanted to see. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty. I will definitely stay next year for the Cannes Film Festival!
“Decent hotel but at a Cannes price”
My family and I reserved 2 rooms, one of which was an upgrade to a "superior" room which provided a table and 2 chairs inside the room in addition to the plastic ones out on the balcony. No view to speak of, (side of condo next door). The breakfast is 14 Euros and just one cup of coffee is 4. You are better off to walk to the beach and get a croissant for 1 euro from the local beachside vendors.
“Value for money!”
I was a bit apprehensive when we reached the hotel as the outside requires some renovation, however, once inside it was a different story. The rooms are exactly as shown in the pictures - the decor is very modern and new! I had really comfortable night's sleep, though the views from the room weren't gr8 but a relaxing a stay! Also the staff were very helpful.
“Over rated as 4 star and so unfriendly”
Due to flight delay we did not arrive until midnight however had emailed ahead so expected a welcome or at least a professional greeting - instead we were treated as an inconvenience. The first room we were offered was dirty and smelled damp. This was supposed to be a superior room so I don't know how bad the ordinary rooms are. Apart from the reception area the hotel is in need of renovation. The decor is quite outdated. Breakfast was boring and unless you were there soon after eight most of the food had gone. It was the same for equipment, cutlery etc. Guests were often stealing from other tables rather than ask for what they needed because the male restaurant staff are particularly rude. They had no concept of being there to serve or help their guests although the girls are more pleasant
“Yuck”
The rooms were horrible, the service non- existent and the pool tiny
“Terrible”
I really don't know how this is rated 4 stars!! Whilst the lobby is well presented, the rest of the hotel is dirty with a damp odour. My room was a standard room and a good size but even though it was on a non-smoking floor, there was a slight smoke smell mixed in with the dampness. When I drew back the curtain there was a dirty old shoe behind it, the TV and some of the lights didn't work which was not very helpful when I came back at 1am from a hard day's work. When I tried ringing reception about it they assured me the lights should work and didn't want to come up and look. When I checked out and paid for the 1 chocolate bar I had from the mini bar, they didn't give me the correct change (however, this seems endemic in Cannes). Whilst relatively less expensive for Cannes, it is not value for money
“Avoid!!!”
I recently had to travel to Cannes for business and after looking around through expedia i found this hotel which all looked good from the out look. it is called the Palace Hotel and has 4 stars!!!. all looks very good, however this was one of the worst hotels i have been too. in order to explain i am going to break down the experience into different catergories. Arrival i arrived at the hotel at 20:30 on saturday night to find i was locked out of the hotel as the doors wouldnt open. after waiting for 5 minutes i eventually got let in. check in was nice and simple and got my key quickly. on my second night when i got back to the hotel at 20:00 i was locked out for 20 minutes as nobody was there to let me in Room the room was clearly decorated in the 70's and hasnt changed since. everything just felt dirty and the air conditioning unit was so loud it kept me awake, but i needed it on to stay cool facilities both the restaurant and bar were shut the 2 nights i stay so i had to find another place to eat and drink in the evening. staff in my whole 2 night stay i only saw 2 staff employees and no ither guests!!!! it was like a ghost town and felt very uncomfortable. the staff were nice but had to keep apologising for all the errors check out upon checking out i found that i had been charged for watching 2 movies at 20 euros each even though the tv didnt work. overall very disappionted and when i go to cannes next year will find somewhere else
