“Good Location”
A good hotel, with a very central location in Canberra. Staff were very helpful. Great gym and pool facilities.
“A pleasant stay”
Overall very satisfactory - some problems with the bathroom with shower water going all over the floor - could be easily remedied with a gutter drain.
“Novotel Hotel Stay”
It was nice upon check in, to be greeted by a smiling friendly face, staff helpful, and nice to have a room upgrade. The layout is similar to Sheratons( eg Fiji Sheraton), with the bathroom sink in the main kitchen area. The room was clean, I stayed 5 days, bathroom was cleaned daily, the sheets were not-not good seeing cleaning trolleys and dirty trays being left in the Hall . My room was on the Northbourne Ave side, 6th floor, away from the lift/bus mall as requested. The Canberra centre shops with Aldi supermarket are only 2 blocks 10 mins walk .The Action bus mall is 10 mins walk and you can get number 2 or 3 Bus from East Row, platform 2, to all major attractions.(Ask for a day ticket and u can travel all day for $7.60). There is a post office around the corner, also 2 small convenience stores nearby, an Aldi store in the Canberra Centre, as wellas food hall and numerous cafes nearby; very handy as I didnt use the Hotel dining. There is also an Info centre on the corner of Genge St. (from Bunda St), very useful to get detailed maps and brochures on tourist attractions. The room Tv and remote are quite frustrating, as the Tv goes to a set channel, then you have to scroll through every channel each time you turn the Tv on. There are 4 computers in the front foyer, 2 paid 2 free internet access, which is very handy to keep in touch while away. The Airport Bus leaves frm the street behind the hotel, West Row, be early, leaves halfhourly,at economical cost of $10.
“Novotel Canberra”
The team at the Novotel in Canberra were great. They kindly accommodated our request for a roll-away bed as my companion was ill and had to get up to go to the bathroom frequently through the night. They even upgraded us at no extra charge so that we could have the reoll-away bed. What was disappointing that our room was not cleaned and beds were not made up despite our request (via a note on the door). We put up with it as we were there for only two nights. It took the edge off what otherwise was a pleasant stay.
“Average hotel which could try harder”
An average hotel...could do with a refurb as quite out dated. Good position to tourist attractions and shops. Parking expensive.
“Would Recommend”
Great Location, easy access for bus and taxi from the hotel. Shops and restaurants only about 1 block away from the hotel. Only problem that we had was they overbooked for the weekend, which in our case was lucky because we ended being upgraded to the top room, which was very clean and roomy. Also staff where not efficient, as we asked several time for ironing board and they still didn't get it, and along with fixing the broken phone in our room (which they never did!). But otherwise everything was great. Would Recommend
“Great place to stay in Canberra”
An enjoyable and afforable weekend in Canberra
“so .. .so NOT 4.5 stars”
Room 703 had a noisy fan or pump which was very noticeable throughout the night. Probably on the roof above. The restaurant did not seem proactive. Hot and cold food ran out and patrons were left waiting for replenishments. There were not enough saucers for the cups and bowls and small plates were difficult to locate. While I'm sure the staff would have responded, had I asked, the self-service breakfast is not intuitive The room entertainment system is not up to date and overall the hotel is not 4.5stars.
“Clean and comfortable - but check charges”
Check-in was pretty quick, as we arrived late at night. The lifts are fast, but very narrow. Our room on the sixth floor was spacious with a large king sized bed, wall-mounted flatscreen tv, desk and easy chair. The bathroom was a little strange - shower and loo in a separate room but not the basin and vanity, which was out in the main room. We also had a balcony, but many of our neighbours were smoking out on theirs so we weren't able to use it much due to the smoke. It was nice to be able to open the door for fresh air on some occasions though. I used the pool and spa, which was clean and pleasant. Since the hotel is near to restaurants etc, we didn't eat any meals at the hotel. The staff were pleasant and helpful, but when checking out the front desk was very busy and only two staff members were around to help. We were told on arrival that the hotel would "hold" $100 on our credit card for the duration of our stay to go towards sundries, but we noticed they had actually taken $200. When I mentioned this at checkout, the staff member said it would be rectified straight away, but it still has not been done. They were very quick to charge our card additionally for the charges we incurred while we stayed there though, and didn't, as they had said, take it out of the $100 (or $200) they had already taken. While the stay was comfortable and convenient, this hassle over credit card charges really took the gloss out of our stay.
“Great Location, friendly staff”
We got a good deal so were very happy with the value for money. It was a very busy weekend in Canberra and the hotel was full but staff were always helpful and I would stay again. Breakfast was included and was better quality than many superior hotels I've stayed in.
