“Best bed we have ever booked on holidays”

Very Happy, polite and assisting staff. Nothing a problem. No noise, great holiday.We definitely enjoyed staying here.

“NOT on harbour, way out...”

A good half hour walk from centre of town. Name "harbourside" highly misleading. Hourly shuttle available both ways after 10am. Older hotel with good sized rooms in really good condition. Staff friendly and helpful. Comfortable.

“Good value for money”

Comfortable hotel but certain Staff could have more knowledge. Asked for local info and told they had none. But there were racks full just around the corner from the desk. Good free shuttle service into the town but refused to take one a few metres more up the road.

Area recommendations

Central Cairns. All amenities are easier to get to. Prefer to be in walking distance of shops, restaurants, beach etc.

When to go

Anytime except summer! Avoid the wet season. September was ideal

Getting around

Taxis are a problem. About 50% of the taxi drivers are unaware of the geography of the town and depend on their GPS which is not always the quickest (and cheapest!) way to go. Many expect the visitor to know where, and how, to get from A to B

Shopping

Excellent choice and reasonable prices. The Night Markets are a must.

Dining

Excellent choice of restaurants/ dining areas and very good prices. Enormous servings!

“Great service”

The staff went out of their way to be helpful in all respects whether it be hotel or tourist related info. Very clean, comfortable, opposite the Esplanade walk and beach and I liked the fact it was further away from the busy end of the Esplanade.

“By the sea”

The Room was very clean and spacious. The meal in the hotel was very well prepared and resonably priced. One main feature of the service is the hourly shuttle bus to and from the city.

“Just Adequate”

The hotel well adequately maintained, the service was fine, the buffet breakfast was better than expected (worth the price), but the location is deceiving. The city is a farther than most people would like to walk, and the city shuttle only leaves once an hour. If you prefer the more quiet stay, it was okay, but if you prefer the nightlife and convenience of being closer to town, this hotel is not for you.

“Needs improvement”

Carpets in the corridor and room needs changing or at least thorough cleaning. Cleanliness of furniture in room was dubious. Beds were very soft. Buffet breakfast was OK. Hotel is well located near the beach and has a convenient shuttle bus to the center of town. Price was very reasonable, but doesn't make up for the bad impression regarding cleanliness.
