“A lot for a lil out of the way”
Location from airport and distance required to access Moreton Island Cat. by 10am a deterrent. However overall the historical relevance was appreciated. Desk staff were uncertain due to circumstances outside their control of operational changes re shuttle bus services etc. Meals and Bar Staff at this hotel were pleasing for value and courtesy. Balconies surrounding upstairs rooms allowed for smokers not interfering with anyone else.
“Acceptable quality”
The hotel was close to the city centre but unfortunately on top of a hill. Local free bus was only weekdays! The staff were extremely helpful. Was impressed with quality of food especially dinner. Free car park was an asset.
“Pretty average”
Good location, with on and off street parking. Comfortable bed. One small, old lift to service 9 floors and I wonder about the fire safety. The attached restaurant/bar had reasonable food and prices It was good for my short stay but I will look elsewhere next time
“Decent hotel for the price and location.”
The budget rooms were pretty dated although the renovated rooms were a bit better. Overall the hotel was decent for the price and location.
“Handy location”
was comfortabe, smelt slightly of smoke.

“Dont expect a beer after 9 pm”
Was amased that on a Saturday night the bar shut at sometime before 9 pm. Went to get a beer and they were shut. Mangaed a packet of chips after finding correct money in my poket. Need to keep bar open longer for hotel guests at least.
“Metro Hotel Brisbane DO NOT STAY HERE”
This is one sad tired hotel ! My Initial reaction as I approached the hotel from the outside was that it was scruffy and needs a coat of paint and so it proved. The reception was crowded and the eating area just was plain dirty, noisy and really not nice. No problems with booking in but no attempt to welcome you or help you on your stay. On getting to the 8th floor when the lift door opened you were met with 2 gloomy lights(1950's style),narrow corridor, tired dirty carpet, and gloomy chipped paint work My room 803 had great views. Unfortunately you could not get on the balcony because it was deemed unsafe and there were ferns growing out of the drains on the balcony and by their size had been there some time. The mesh curtains were torn in three places. The bed was fine. The tiny bathroom needed replacing and/or repainting. The bath fitted a small Japanese person. The shower was a retro fit but only had one door on it and when you had a shower soaked the floor. The new a/c was fine but would have been nice if the old a/c had been removed removed. All the furniture in the room was old and chipped. It would have been nice of there were instructions on how to use the radio and set the clock. The hotel is in a good position but at the top of a steep hill. This was a very disappointing last few days in Australia and the hotel does not merit it star rating and the price is way too high for its poor standard.
“Filthy”
This hotel was filthy and in terrible repair.
“Old and dated hotel.”
If you want a trip back to the 1970's this is the hotel for you. It urgently needs an upgrade or demolishing. If you have breathing problems, the walk up the hill to this hotel is not recommended.
