“A quiet hotel with excellent views of Brisbane”
I stayed at the Metro Tower hotel for two nights on a recent trip to Australia and I was quite pleased with the hotel. The staff let me check in 4 hours before the official check in time - having just gotten off a long flight from NY and being extremely tired, this was quite helpful. The room was clean and had a great view. It's a short walk up a moderate hill from the central train station, but if you have lots of luggage or are very out of shape, this won't seem like a short walk. If you don't mind walking, it's a great location - very quiet. The immediate neighborhood doesn't have much action - there's a restaurant/pub attached and the food was good and the prices were reasonable. For a livelier scene, you have to walk downtown (about 5-10') or to the Fortitude Valley (about 20') where there is a Chinatown and an adjacent area with many pubs and restaurants, some with live music on weekends. Overall, I was very happy with the Metro Hotel Tower. It's odd circular shape added to the uniqueness. Rooms have balconies, which is an enjoyable place to have morning coffee or an afternoon beer. The room rate was quite reasonable.
“Recommendable”
This hotel, even though it does not have a separate concierge, has a front desk that does not only checks in and out guests, receives calls from outside and inside the hotel, but also serves as a concierge, all so pleasantly. The evening staff even helped me with my computer problem/
“Filthy”
This hotel was filthy and in terrible repair.
“No facilities but a decent base”
I stayed here during a 4-day business trip. For that purpose, it's fine: the location is ok and the room is comfortable and adequate. Wifi internet is reliable; it costs extra, the charge is average for international hotels. Everything is clean and works fine, although it shows its age a bit. The only significant downside is the complete lack of facilities: there's literally nothing, not even a lounge, apart from the restaurant. But one nice little touch is that they give you a carton of fresh milk when you arrive.
“Good short term Accommodation”
High position with easy walking through parkland into the city. Small boutique hotel feel with limited free parking under. General cleanliness good and internal noise from our room very quiet. Compact bedroom and bathroom offset by great views over the city. Good 3 star value. Only downside is a $100 bond which is refunded at the end of stay.
“Can't wait to go back”
Not having gone to Brisbane before, and not being a driver, I wanted somewhere with easy access to the city. The Metro Hotel Tower Mill was it. I was also impressed with the cleanliness and friendliness of the hotel. As I was travelling alone, and am young and female, I had some concerns, but I was treated respectfully and appropriately at all times. Definitely recommend as a friendly, comfortable, and convenient place to stay in Brisbane. Valerie
“Dont expect a beer after 9 pm”
Was amased that on a Saturday night the bar shut at sometime before 9 pm. Went to get a beer and they were shut. Mangaed a packet of chips after finding correct money in my poket. Need to keep bar open longer for hotel guests at least.
“Value for money for single travellers”
This hotel is well located, only a short walk from Central Station (uphill or up stairs, but this should only be a problem for the elderly, disabled or extremely out-of-shape!) I didn't use the hotel breakfast but there is a cafe two doors down plus plenty of options closer to Central Statoin. Rooms are an OK size for a single traveller but the twin rooms might be a bit cramped if there were actually two of you. Tip: just up the road and across the road is Roma Street park - lovely for early-morning walks. See if you can find the Japanese water harp!
“Within walking distance to the City”
I was a short walk to the Queen St Mall and close to both Roma St Station and Central Station to get public transport.
