“Its all about the view...”
This is, without question, the best location and view in Marseilles. The hotel is high on the luxury factor. Extremely attentive staff and excellent room service menu. The tapas served at the main floor bar were great. The only complaint we had was that the business center was out of commission for all three days we stayed there...more effort should have been expended getting the problem corrected.
“Luxury with First Class Service - Highly Recommended”
If you are going to Marseille I highly recommend the Sofitel Vieux Port. The rooms are comfortable to the point of being luxurious, and are beautifully appointed. The bar gives excellent service with great bar snacks and the restaurant is top-class (albeit with prices to match). The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. This is supposed to be a four-star hotel. I would give it five and a half !
“Great Hotel”
We were only in Marseille for a couple of days having come down from Paris on the TGV. This was one of the most comfortable hotels we'd ever stayed in. It was about a 15 minute walk from Le Vieux Port although there was a bus if you wanted. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and we would certainly stay here again.
“Expensive but worth it.”
After 3 weeks of hotel to hotel, some great, some not so great, it was a relaxing cushy respite prior to the long trip home. Very nice location overlooking the Vieux Port.
“clean, modern and sophisticated”
this hotel is a true 4 star by north american standard. we had an absolutely stunning view of Vieux port, and love that they use Hermes bath amenities. The hotel is about 20min walk from the center of the port, if you want to be in the center of everything, this may not be for you. We enjoyed the 20min walk along the waterfront during our 3night stay. The staff was very helpful and kind, they fixed the elevator squeaking problem the same day we complained and the valet also helped with translation when our rental car won't start up and required a mechanic. We would definitely go back to Sofitel again.
“Great Hotel but Poor Location”
It was all you would expect from a luxury hotel but sadly, separated from the Old Port by a seriously complex highway system which had to be negotiated on foot. On the other hand, Marseille Airort is modern and comfortable, and absolutely empty at the time of our visit.
“Very Agreeable”
The room is modern and well-furnished, and the hotel is well-located, though a little removed from the other Vieux Port restaurants and hotels. The front desk staff were helpful and pleasant.
“An Exceptional Experience”
The hotel is beautiful and the view is fantastic. I had a little trouble with the front desk clerk when I arrived (She booked me into a smoking room that hadn't been cleaned yet!I was afraid I was going to have an experience like one of the other reviewers)But the front desk manager apologized and quickly remedied the stiuation with an upgraded room. All of the other staff were so attentive that I felt like I was the only guest. I highly recommend this place and if anything is out of order, ask for a correction, it was my experience that it was taken care of immediately; often to more than my satisfaction.
“First Rate”
A first rate hotel with first rate service in a dominating location overlooking Marseille harbour. The restaurant view at dinner was spectacular at night and the food and service was excellent though expensive. The most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and the bath/shower is a delight. Altogether a marvellous place.
“Perfect Place To Stay”
The Sofitel was the perfect place to stay when visiting Marseille. I had never been to the city before and wanted to stay in the port. The hotel is just outside of it (approx. 5 minute walk), which is actually better because you are removed from the hustle and bustle of the port's crowds without needing a taxi to take you there. The service, amenities, and aesthetics of the hotel were all top-notch. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful in finding us a restaurant for dinner. The room's toiletries were Hermes. And our room had an amazing view of the port, which we booked specifically and were glad we did. The hotel's restaurant and bar also have amazing views of the harbor. All in all, I had a wonderful stay and would definitely return to the Sofitel should I ever visit Marseille again! Highly recommended!
