“Great Hotel!!!!”
St. Remy de Provence was one of our favorite stops on our European adventure and Les Ateliers de l'Image was an absolutely great hotel. What is great about this hotel is that it is in the center of St. Remy, but yet offers free parking, a wonderful pool, a park-like setting complete with hammocks, and a sushi restaurant. I could not think of a better place to stay! I saw some of the other hotels that get a great rating in St. Remy...they are outside the city. Outside the city (In my opinion..is boring!) Being in the city was wonderful. You are also only 1 block from one of the greatest wine people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Tor Vollalokken of La Cave at 13 rue de Chateau in St. Remy offers a wealth of knowledge in the wine world. His wine tastings and recommendations were fantastic!! We made it a point to visit his store all 3 nights in St. Remy. At Les Ateliers de l'Image we stayed in one of the less expensive rooms (#4). This room is in a separate building, the bar actually!! In fact, if you enter the bar, walk behind the stage and up the stairs, there is Room #4! Wake up at 4am in the morning, open your door and the bar is still open downstairs. Nobody there of course, but the bar setup is still there. Despie being located over the bar, noise was not an issue. Room 4 was like a dorm room. We liked not being near other folks staying at the hotel.
“A Gem in the heart of St. Remy de Provence”
The location of this hotel is hard to beat. It is in the immediate neighborhood of restaurants, shopping, cafes, boulangeries.... It is a huge luxurious property and very comfortable. Ample free car parking. However needed to be a bit independent in making driving plans for visiting villages in the Luberon etc as not all of the front desk staff were totally knowledgeable to the degree required to provide reasonable help....Other than that everyone was very helpful in making our stay comfortable.
“Quality hotel in St. Remy”
Overall, a very nice hotel. On the arrival day the streets into town were closed down due to a festival/parade, so it was a bit difficult to get to the hotel (a heads up would have been helpful). They have their own gated parking - very convenient once we were able to get to the hotel. The room was well-appointed, clean and comfortable. The only real negative was the lack of a computer for guests to use (they said theirs had been stolen) . I think some sort of computer access in this day and age is mandatory for an upscale hotel (although WiFi was available in the hotel). Breakfast at the hotel was also pretty good, but expensive. Overall, would recommend.
“Great location, lovely hotel, shame that the quality of breakfast was erratic.”
St Remy makes a great centre for exploring Provence and this beautiful 4 * hotel is on the edge of the historic core, convenient for all the local restaurants etc. . Our modern large room had a large balcony overlooking the beautiful gardens, (complete with ponds with resident frogs) and the nearby Alpilles . We enjoyed our 5 night stay immensely. It was let down a bit by the quality of the breakfasts which in my view were not up to the 4 * rating.... the first morning, sunday, there was no fruit salad left at 9 am and burnt croissants ... the next day I got the dregs of the fruit salad and overly well done croissants which on the following days continued to be darker than desirable.
“High class French Country Club”
If you want to stay in St Remy while basing out of Provence. This is the place to stay. I been to St Remy many times but first time to base there for my Provence stay. Perfect location at the best part of town where all restaurents are. Short walk into centre ville for shopping. My room was over the bar but very private. Pool, pool table, R & R, Private parking is so convenient. From St Remy, you need a car to visit Provence. St Remy has one of the best markets, I think Wednesdays'. The other best markets in Provence is Arles on Saturday and Il sur la Sorgue on Sundays' All three are can't misses. Its like the entire provence crowd onto these markets. Not too expansive.
“Charactful St. Remy”
This very modern hotel occupies a beautiful garden with a swimming pool, right on the edge of the old town and just round the corner from the tourist office. We arrived on a weekend when there was a bull festival, which was very exciting. Wild bulls and wild Camargue horses swept past the hotel under the charge of magnificent Camargue Horsemen. The only fault with the hotel was that the bedrooms are very small. They are well equipped but cramped. The bar area was interesting ( part of an old cinema)and the food was good. It also has a good carpark.
“It's okay.”
Hotel has beautiful gardens/grounds and a swimming pool which will be nice in warmer months. The house cat is quite loving too. Although the hotel was empty on our arrival we stayed in the secondary building. Room was spartan (not minimalist or modern--I choose my words with care) with a good closet and a nice view of the rooftops of the center of St. Remy. The bed had a futon-like feel and the Queen size is two twins pushed together with a little ridge separating the two (which is very common throughout Europe). The bathroom was smallish but well-thought out--loved the shelving over the wash basin. The soaps, shampoos and body lotion were excellent. The lobby area has an excellent collection of DVDs, unfortunately our room did not have a DVD player. There is also a very good collection of photography books. We arrived around 8pm and were recommended and walked to by the night clerk (an American from Austin) to the Bar and Tabac across the street for a great dinner. The following evening we had dinner directly across the street at Chez Gus where we enjoyed one of, if not the finest shellfish tower we have ever ordered. Atelier offers a generous breakfast with croissants, pain aux chocolat, cheeses, ham, plus yogurt, granola, cereal and juices. Overall the place is pretty decent, but rather overpriced for what you get. Finally, if your theme is movie house, how hard is it to just have great movies constantly looping through the theatre room?

St.-Remy-de-Provence, France: An ideal base for trips into the inspirational Alpilles countryside, St Rémy is also a renowned centre for herbalism. Its famous too as the birthplace of astrologer Nostradamus and the artist Van Gogh painted over a hundred canvasses here. The Vincent Van Gogh Art Centre is a reminder of the great artist; visitors can also see the cloisters of the Clinique de St-Paul, where he committed himself after slicing off his ear.
