“Nice hotel; great value and location”
Location is excellent on a quiet street only two blocks from all the busyness near KaDeWe. Therefore no rooms have street noise (a common problem). Just walk two blocks and you're right in the middle of the busy area. An underground stop is ~150 meters from the hotel door. Consistent service and a great value since I've been staying there over the past 5 years. There's a sauna and well-equipped gym on the top floor. Rooms are well-equipped, but if you require a gigantic American-sized room, then pay the extra $$ for the Marriott.
“Genuine European Hotel in the Heart of Berlin”
I recently stayed at this hotel for a week and left wholly satisfied. Perhaps its greatest strength is its prime location. The main shopping dstrict of Berlin is just a short walk away. The hotel has a really nice sauna and steam room on the top floor. There were a couple of English language channels on the room's television. On the ground floor, there is a decent bar. I would certainly stay here again when I return to Berlin.
“Excellent location and very efficiently run.”
The hotel location is great, really close to the U-Bahn and in a mainly residential area, so generally it's quite quiet - but the amazingly efficient double glazed windows will block out any annoying noise anyway! Very friendly and efficient staff, great cocktails and a cool, laid back ambience in the bar. My only gripe is that the pillows are way too meanly filled, and there is only one per person. Big fat feather pillow required please! I would definitely recommend this hotel.

“Ready to Return”
I just returned from my second stay at the Alsterhof. The first was two years ago. I had an excellent experience both times. The only change I noticed on the second visit was the installation of new flat screen TVs. I typically travel solo and in decending order I value location, quality exercise equipment, service/ammenities, and breakfast. (Not to mention that I look for a good deal when I can find one!) Sure, I could have paid 3x more at the Marriott to get the fancy soap, but for what else?
“Perfect for our flying visit”
The Alsterhof provided the perfect base for our 3 day trip to Berlin. Friendly welcome, knowledgeable and helpful staff when you needed them. Excellent location for public transport, sightseeing, shopping, eating out. Our room was on 5th floor and was just as we would expect. We travelled by public transport and we didn't eat at the hotel (there's a hugh choice out there on the streets of Berlin) so we don't know about parking facilities or about the food.
“Great Hotel but ... No air conditioned”
Overall a Great Hotel. A major Shopping Center and Touristic Attractions are 2 blocks away. In this Shopping center is the Tourist Information Center which is very complete and helpful. Subway station is 1 block away, as well as a small convinience store. Buses 100 and 200 go nearby which will take you to AlexanderPlatz. The only inconvinience is that the hotel does not have air conditioned, but I think this is the same for any hotel in eastern Europe. The hotel has free internet access and has a lot of stores very close.
“Good Location”
Hotel was in a quiet sidestreet, not far from the shopping area of Kurfurstendamm. The hotel is next to a bank and about 100m from the entrance to a U-bahn station. A couple of handy restaurants are just round the corner if you dont want to go to far in an evening. We went mid week (mon-thu) and the hotel was very quiet, seemed more staff than guests.
“Another great stay”
Another great stay at the Alsterhof Hotel. Excellent & friendly service, great food with a selection of venues and a thoroughly comfortable and quiet stay. Very high standard of housekeeping. Would recommend the room service breakfast. Great stay.
