“Great Value for money !”
This hotel is a great place to stay as it's on the outskirts of Barcelona city with easy access to a variety of destinations due to its proximity to 2 major highways. The hotel's staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and seemed to be able to communicate in several languages. There is an ample Buffet breakfast at a very reasonable price. A taxi stand is right outside the hotel and an enormous shopping mall just across the road. You get what you pay for, a place to recommend.
“"Wasted time daily-commuting into downtown Barcelona"”
Overall, I felt this to be an excellent hotel. The staff, restaurant, and no language barrier made this hotel easy to enjoy. Although arriving at night, I did not realize how far it was from the center of Barcelona. You actually pass turn offs to the city center as you travel to the hotel. This was realized upon my departure. There is a shopping mall directly across the street as well as a bus stop to the nearest train station. This is where the fun began. Traveling to the city center required a bus ride (30 min) (or taxi in 12-15 min) to the train station. The train and metro took approximately an hour. Therefore, you spend an hour and a half or three hours total commuting. If I had paid more attention, I would have reserved something near the airport (which is near downtown and metro), or near the city center.
“satisfying - best for travellers on a budget”
the hotel, Campanile, is a clean hotel with an extremely friendly staff. everything we expected was really there. it's nothing fancy, but it's very sufficient for travelling on a budget. a bus station is a 7- minute walk from the hotel. buses take you to metro stations, where you can easily reach downtown barcelona. the hotel provided us with free wifi, so take your laptop if you have one. there was a kettle in the room, and daily supplies of tea, coffee, creamers, sugar and biscuits. a huge mall is a 2 minute walk from the hotel, so you can buy everything you need. our overall stay at campanile hotel was very pleasant. as I said, it's nothing fancy, but it's very clean and satisfying. I would definetly recommend it for budget travellers, specially if you book it via expedia.
“Too Far From Barcelona”
This hotel was nice enough for a cheap stay, but it was very far from the city center of Barcelona if that's what you're interested in.
“A bed for the night - not much more than that”
Basic but clean and friendly enough. Very close to motorway which is convenient, but also noisy.
“not impressed”
I was disappointed by the hotel staff because some of them don't speak English or didn't want to. I don't mean chambermaids-they said they know English, but spoke in Spanish. There were few free parking spaces, and the room hadn't got a minifridge. We were 2 couples and we had 2 rooms, but I would have preferred the other one to be next to ours. As an advantage, the hotel was not too far from Barcelona and there was a shopping centre very near to us.
“Hote Campanile in Barcelona”
hotel generally was good as other 3 stars
“Free Internet - Only good thing”
Free wifi in the hotel lobby, we were satisfied with that. Very complicated to get on/off the local highways, even with a map it took us half a dozen tries before we stopped getting lost. Room seemed dated, mold in shower, and bring your own toiletries unless one little tear packet of shampoo is enough for you. Walking distance from nothing but a shopping mall. Staff was rude when asking for phone assistance, on more than one occasion.
“Worst hotel I have ever stayed at in my life!”
We stayed at this hotel from June 29 to July 3, 2008, and it was the worst 4 days of my vacation! First of all the hotel is in the middle of nowhere and is totally not accessable unless by taxi or car. It is situated between two freeways! Secondly, the staff is rude, not helpful, incompetent, and unprofessional. For example, one night my family and I arrived at the train station and called the hotel to send us a taxi (mind you this is 11:30 pm, and my youngest daughter is 7 years old). We called a total of 4 times and was not sent a taxi until one hour and a half later. Almost none of the staff speak english, even enough to understand the concept. They always answer with "I don't know" When I asked the Front Desk manager for a comment paper, he gave me a blank piece of computer paper so he can take it and throw it in the trash. This hotel completely ruined Barcelona for myself and my kids. There was nothing for them to do and not even a pool to escape the heat! My eldest who is 18 years old said that she would never come back to Barcelona because of that experience.
