The room was dirty. The sheets looked like they weren't clean. the location is good for the price. I payed $8/night. I've seen it for $5/night. It MIGHT be worth 5.
I would not stay here ever again. Take my advice and pay extra for a clean room/ hotel. The hotel is dirty; walls, bed, bathrooms. I had bedbugs in my first room so I switched then I constantly had large cockroaches in the second room I stayed in. The a/c in the room is good but I had to pay extra to upgrade because the fan only room was like a hot box. No window facing outward just tinted windows facing the hallways. The hotel itself does not have air conditioning so after being in the heat all day you now have to sweat your way up the stairs to your room. I was on the third floor. Do yourself the favor by spending the extra $5-10 a night where you don't have to stress about the bugs that might crawl on you. I can't stress enough how horrendous this hotel is.
Room was so small we didnt have space to put our bags on the floor. Smelled like bug spray so strong that everything in my bag stincks. Mattress horrible, stains on the sheets, really bad.
Reserved online. Showed up, checked in. it smelled like sewage going to the room. Fan did not work... no AC. The rooms were very small and the beds did not have clean sheets on the bed. The bathrooms were gross... walls of the entire place we're dirts. after checking into the room a girl tried to sell her self to me...
We ended up going to another hotel a renting a room and loosing out on our money, since they would not refund us even though we were checked in for less then an hour.
It would be nice if Expedia offered financial protection in situations like this.
I am now worried to book a room online.
Do not stay here!
Don't know where to begin. The box spring only instead of a proper mattress, complete lack of maintenance. This place is grim. I would say the owners have stopped caring but from the looks of things, they never did.
Most staff were helpful and nice which must be difficult working in a place like this.
Had no choice but to spend one night had to beg for a bed sheet and towel small tiny room that couldn't swing a cat in not as described as when I purchased it through Expedia the following day I had to spend a further £400 for a better hotel down the road called Swana Bangkok hotel superb hotel but took £400 of my spending money so not best pleased with Expedia for this crap service this hotel should be removed from the site looking at the amount of awful reviews!
Won't be using Expedia again after this poor service!

Cheap Cheap
Stayed for few days just for sleeping and that was ok.
Was mouldy, tiny, dirty. Bar across the windows, dirty sheet on bed, stains in bathroom. Left immediately, no refund didn't matter - quality was reflected directly in price, lesson well learned!

Quiet, City Center, Dirty
The hotel and room is just so so. No decoration. The room is quite dirty wth sticky floor. Opposite site of my room was construction site, they worked all daytime since early morning, and woke us up.
This hotel is nothing like you might expect. First of all, the room was like a small dirty closet with stinky and uncomfortable bed. There was no fridge in the room like we thought, breakfast wasnt a buffet like advertised, staff were dismissive and tv was a real joke. Me and my partner booked three nights and we were only counting the days to get out of there...location was good, close to the Khaosan but far enough to be quiet. Would NOT recommend!
The Hotel is very ran down. The room is extremely small, old, broken window, flooded bathroom, dirty bed. Ants visit You 24/7 in your room. no Wi-Fi in room. But it's one of the cheapest in town.

Oke
Perfect location and good value for money. Not big but exactly what we needed that time.
The staff was not very friendly and charged us a dollar for them to make a local call to us to our tour agent. The wifi was in and out. The room is the smallest thing I have ever seen and didn't have any of the amenities listed. The bed was like cement. There were little bugs everywhere and there was a gecko in the room (which I didn't mind that much since they eat bugs). The window was really just a wooden shutter so bugs and smoke from the street can get in and it's super super noisy. The breakfast was really lame and you had to go to the hotel down the street to get it.
There is little maintenance done and cleaning is minimal. It says they have an in-room safe and a refrigerator. It has neither in the room. They have a communal refrigerator and small lockers which you can see have been pried open in the past. I did not actually stay here, I went to the big hotel in the center of Khaosan instead and that place was the best hotel of my trip!
We laughed so hard at how bad this hotel was! we thought the reviews where exaggerated but believe me your better paying an extra two quid and going to "Four Sons" down the road...much better! We had three nights booked but the smell and noise of workman finally took it's toll and we spent last night in the other hotel. There was no wifi, no safe and absolutly no comfort. if you want a prison experience then you'll love it lol!
I booked a double room but there was not even enough room for my bags let alone trying to swing a cat. Dirty sheet on bed. Muck on the floor & the smell was unbelievable. Don't stay here.
Quickly booked this hotel over the internet while in transit at the airport. It was very cheap and in the area where we wanted to be. The pictures looked OK but we didn't have time to see the reviews as our connection was about to be cut off. We figured that, for the price, we didn't have much to loose anyway.
We are used to roughing it out but, when we got there and saw the room, the dirtiness was just too much for us.
We simply threw our backpacks in and essentially used the room as a locker while we went to look for a better place.
The people there didn't even look surprised when we checked out a little while later without having stayed even a few hours and didn't bother asking why we were leaving so soon.

Nice hotel, quite hotel
Hotel was just far enough away from Khoa san Rd to be quite, yet more than close enough to walk. Rooms are - you get what you pay for. Yes its cheap, so dont complain if its a little dirty of not as comfortable as you used to in the west. Remember your travelling. Deal with it.
The hotel is in a state of disrepair but it's pretty clean and tidy - just a bit tired...
The locations great for us though, far away enough from the 24/7 Khao San Road to allow you to sleep but near enough to enjoy if needed. It's also near to where the "VIP" buses lave from and how much time do you really spend in your room in BKK??
All in all, for backpackers on a budget, it worked well for us!!
The website pictures show a clean if basic hotel. On arrival we found this was not the case. The room was cramped, and dirty. The furnishings were damaged and the paintwork was chipped and dirty. When we asked for a better room we were met with hostility from reception staff and after a lengthy argument, and viewing two other rooms in the hotel next door owned by the sake company were transferred to another from the chain the sawasdee khao san. This was a little better but there were still human hairs ajd a cochroach found in tye bed. I was told by the hotel manager that 'everybody uses photos that make the hotel look better than it is. That's business'. I think this is really false advertising. Don't stay at any of the sawasdee hotels, they are appalling. Budget shouldn't have to mean dirty.
I am a regular user of this hotel as I like the KhaoSan and want great value for money. The hotel is on a quietish soi which is unusual for the area. The rooms are basic but OK for what I need - 6 hours sleep. Staff are good , friendly and helpful - especially when book late on Expedia and the hotel has no record - everything is sorted in the morning.

KhoaSan Convenient
Cheap and cheerful hotel right in the heart of KhaoSan. It is basic but practical. If you can handle the noise and the lifestyle of KhaoSan, then this is for those on a tight budget.

Excellent location
Small room but considering the cheap rate one can't expect much. The staff was very friendly, helpful and speak English fairly well. It is perfect for budget travellers and for a short stay, or as a base when returning to BKK while travelling across Thailand. I would happily stay there again.

Simple no frills hotel gets the job done
Clean basic accommodations for reasonable costs. I have stayed here many times over the past few years. Never had any real problems other than tv not so good. Staff are responsive and easy going. Make sure you book early in the morning if arriving same day or they won't get your booking before you check in and it will take them some time to find it.
this hotel rents out from $5 per day...
no taxi or anyone else knows where it is....
it took 2 taxis and 1 1/2 hrs driving around and asking around to find it by 8pm...
there are no elevators or staff.. after dragging our luggage up two flights we
found our room ... about 9'x9'.... air conditioning not working ...no towels..
a small double bed.. no top sheet..
WE TOOK OUR LUGGAGE BACK DOWN AND LEFT, fortunately found a decent hotel
within walking distance, and booked in there, adding an additional $300 to our travel cost..as the Sawasdee was included in a package with the flight...
The hotel gives what you pay for. The rooms feel a bit like prison cells and the shower/bathrooms are not particularly nice but everything is clean and nice enough and it does what it needs to for the price you pay. It is also off the main drag of road which is a big plus because it makes it much quiter than some other hostels in the area!
We had already booked hotel. After arrival, we came to know it wasn't as shown in pictures on expedia. There wasn't space even to store your luggage; so we had to change to slightly bigger room by paying extra money. Bathroom, toilet very dirty, the outlet choked up every time a person took bath. Air conditioner was also too bad..
It is a bad experience and not fit for family .Rooms are very small and bath rooms are pathetic,it is OK for a single people for just a night stay .
