“Park Plaza in the perfect location for a great night out.”

I stayed in the Park Plaza for a few days and it was fantastic. It's a relatively new hotel and was extremely neat and tidy. The rooms are a very comfortable style, the decor is contemporary and pleasing and the facilities are fantastic. The staff are also very helpful and polite. It offers great value for money and the location is exceptional if you want to soak up all the fruits that the nightlife in Bangkok can offer. It's an easy 20-30 minute cab ride from the tourist sites. I'll definitely stay there again.

“Quality Hotel with Great Staff”

Nice hotel and really clean with lovely helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Would definately use again. Restaurant food was good but wine a bit expensive. Hotel very handy to BTS Asok station and Sukhomvit.

Area recommendations

The Grand Palace. Temple of the Golden Buddha. MBK Shopping Centre. Street stalls along Sukhomvit.

Getting around

Watch out for taxi drivers ripping you off, overcharging is rife particularly the taxi desks in the airport and taxis that hang around touting for business. Go to the official taxi rank outside the airport entrance to get a fair rate to your hotel. If you need a taxi in Bangkok you are more likely to get a fair rate if you flag one down that has it's for hire light on or get the Park Plaza staff to get one for you (they got a taxi to the airport for me that was really cheap and included all tolls). Watch out for motor bikes riding on the pavements to avoid traffic jams and look where you are walking as the pavements are in a really bad state with bad potholes and loose paving bricks. Take great care on road crossings as drivers do not stop even when the green man says you can cross.

“Good Hotel and Great Location”

As other reviewers have noted, the hotel is well maintained and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. We booked a superior room at a corner location with a city view. Though the room was smaller that we envisioned, it was very comfortable, clean, well maintained and the bathroom was top notch. From the main window, we had a nice view of the main intersection (Sukhumvit line) and we had no issues with traffic noise. My only gripe with the room was it was hard to set the air conditioner to a comfortable setting. It seemed the fan was alwasy blowing on us in bed even after I shifted the vents away from us. The location was excellent, walking distrance to the Asok sky train station and the MRT station. There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the neighborhood. It was very easy and safe to explore the surrounding neighborhood as it is an area geared towards expats and tourists. There is also a convenient money changer located near the main intersection and they are open until 11 PM. The only major complaint I have is that we made a collect call to our credit card company to verify some charges we made earlier that day. When we checked out we were charged for that phone call even though it was a collect call. The front desk staff insisted that it was not a collect call. The amount was not significant but they really need to do a better job with their phone system.

This area is good for first time visitors to Bangkok because it is geared towards tourists and expats. In addition, the multiple transportation options in this area makes it ideal.

Cab rides to the airport: It is supposed to be a metered ride to the airport and should not cost mroe than 500 Baht including tolls. Our cabbie tried to charge us a flat rate of 650 Baht and I ahd to negotiate with him. No big deal but make sure you get it straight before leaving the hotel so you can take another cab if needed. If uncomfotable with negotiating then ask the hotel staff ot speak to the cab driver for you.

“Unbelievable service”

As many have already said, this is a gem of a hotel if you like the location. It is located in the busy Sukhumvit area, a couple buildings away from the Asoke BTS line (2 minute walk). It is a smaller hotel, tucked behind a larger building. While it does not feel "big", it does have all of the services of a much larger hotel. There is a small gym and pool on the rooftop and a full restaurant and bar on the second floor. The rooms are very well laid out, with a very good working desk and nice bathrooms. But the best feature by far is the quality of the hotel staff. They are simply terrific. Very professional and fast with check-in and check-out and always ready to help with any request. If you do not need all the services of a huge hotel - and I can't think of what is missing here except size - and you like the area there it is located, this hotel is a great choice.

“Great Place for Sukhumvit Area”

Park Plaza was a good experience. Staff top notch, location great. Although on busy road, rooms are reasonably well sound proofed. Deluxe room was ample large. Lovely large bath tub and separate shower. Minibar is way over priced. Breakfast is also high-priced for Bangkok. I have stayed at the other big name hotels in the area. Park Plaza is equal or better plus free internet. Book room for two then guests are fine. Food at restaurant is good. Nice little pool on the roof. I will return to Park Plaza.

“Gem of Bangkok”

Wow. my lady and I really enjoyed this hotel. This beautiful low-key hotel was a sanctuary from the noise and crowds outside. Situated in the Sukhumvit neighboorhood, just a few blocks away from the Skytrain and the Metro, we found this to be a perfect location. We received valuable tips from the concierge relative to our trip to Koh Samet, and found the rest of the staff helpful as well. From the lemongrass smell inside the hotel, to the clean and moderm rooms which still retained a hint of traditional thailand, this place is an oasis. We just wished we had saved some time for the rooftop hotel.

Outdoors or beach

Ok, take the skyway to the Ektamai bus station to the Pier, then a ferry to Koh Samet. The bus ride is almost 4 hours though. Make this an overnight trip. You can rent a bungalow from the pier
